It’s been a long time coming, but Square Enix is rapidly approaching the launch ofFinal Fantasy 16, the latest action RPG from the long-running fan favorite franchise. Set on Valisthea,Final Fantasy 16puts players in the shoes of Clive Rosfield who goes on a quest for revenge against the dark Eikon known as Ifrit.

Unlike previous entries in this franchise, Final Fantasy 16 leans heavy into more action-oriented combat, turning to longtimeDevil May Crybattle director Ryota Suzuki to handle the encounters. As fans saw with recent trailers,Final Fantasy 16features bombastic combat, highlighted by massive Eikon battles designed with unique mechanics based around their powers and elements. With all of the excitement surrounding the game, Square Enix has finally confirmed a longstanding rumor.

Following all theFinal Fantasy 16previews, Square Enix has come out to confirm that the game is confirmed to be getting a full-length demo prior to the June 22 launch date. According to the company, the demo will cover a few hours worth of content, focusing on Clive in his youth, rather than him as an adult as most of the promotional material has shown him. All in all, this content appears to be similar, if not the same, asthe hands-on Final Fantasy 16 previewshave experienced.

Rumors and speculation have continued to swirl for months regarding a potentialFinal Fantasy 16demo, so this news should come as a welcome one for fans. Unfortunately, Square Enix has not confirmed a date for when the demo arrives, but many have started to theorize that the news could arrive as early as this week duringSony’s upcoming PlayStation Showcase on May 24.

While Final Fantasy 16 is looking to be a massive and sprawling adventure, the demo should give fans a good taste at what they can expect with the full experience. Along those same lines, fans have been getting small snippets of details from Square Enix directly through new videos and trailers including how tounlock and upgrade Clive’s various abilities inFinal Fantasy 16. As detailed in the video, Clive has access to a lot of abilities to strengthen his Eikons and upgrading them adds even more power to already devastating attacks.
