World of Warcraftjust showed off a hilarious image of the massive kobolds players will have to face inThe War Within. This unexpected glow up shocked manyWorld of Warcraftplayers, and proved the next expansion pack will be full of surprises.
World of WarcraftrevealedThe War Within, the first of three expansions planned as a part of the Worldsoul Saga, during Blizzcon. Like those that came before it,The War Withinadds many new features toWorld of Warcraft, including zones to explore, activities to complete, and monsters to battle.

However, the officialWorld of WarcraftTwitter just shared an image of one creature players never would have expected to face. The picture features two kobolds–the first being the normal version of the common candle-lovingWorld of Warcraftmonster, and the second being a massive example of their kind. At over three times the size of the original one, players will encounter these gigantic kobolds inThe War Within, where they will no doubt be more fearsome than their smaller cousins–an impressive feat considering they are one of thedeadliest mobs inWorld of Warcraft Classic Hardcore.
What are Kobolds in World of Warcraft?
Fans were delighted by this new take on the classicWorld of Warcraftmonster. Many fans think they will be more likely to get their candles taken by this kobold, whom many have affectionately named a “swolebold.” Others made references to popular memes or video games, and wondered if he had found a super mushroom fromMario. That said, more than a few were taken aback by how handsome they found this strapping kobold, and would prefer to take him on a date, rather than take his candle.
Either way, it seems likeThe War Withinis gearing up to be an expansion full of wondrous new creatures. From Algarian Stormriders of the Isle of Dorn to the new types of Nerubians players will face in Azj-Kahet, fans will have plenty of new creatures to encounter. While some, likeWorld of Warcraft’s new Earthen Allied Race, have not charmed players yet, these massive kobolds certainly have.
