DragonflightPatch 10.0.7is currently available for testing inWorld of Warcraft’sPTR. This patch is the firstDragonflightupdate with story content since the Vault of the Incarnates raid, so each subsequent build has revealed more of what players will be getting into once 10.0.7 drops this spring.

In a recent build of theDragonflightPTR, players can discover a series of old correspondences between Neltharion – original name of theinfamousCataclysmvillain Deathwing– and Adamanthia, a draconic scientist and warden involved in the imprisonment of the Dracthyr. Adamanthia tried and failed to reassert control over the Dracthyr in a series of experiments, but then attempted to convince Neltharion to win their loyalty through traditional means. Neltharion obviously disagreed, considering Adamanthia’s body can be found imprisoned in crystal, and the Dracthyr she awakened in the process were sent to a place called Aberrus.

From Adamanthia’s brief description of Aberrus, players can assume it is not a pleasant location, as she believed the Dracthyr sent there would be killed in an “esoteric experiment.” Given the black dragonflight’s association with the earth, and the hints thatDragonflightPatch 10.1 would be taking place in an underground location, Aberrus could be the name of the new zone itself. Alternatively, Aberrus could be the name of a prison or research facility that could appear as a dungeon or the raid in the new patch. Either way, it seems likely players will find out what Aberrus is for themselves when Patch 10.1 arrives in the late spring or early summer.

Adamanthia herself also might have a role to play inDragonflight. The uncorrupted dragon has been in stasis almost as long as the Dracthyr, and many players speculate they may find a way to release her. Considering her name hearkens to the Greek nymph Adamanthea who helped Zeus hide from his father, Adamanthia could become an important leader for both the Dracthyr andWorld of Warcraft’snew black dragonflight.

Players won’t have to wait long to find out what role Adamanthia and Aberrus will play in the future ofWorld of Warcraft. Patch 10.0.7 should release in the next couple of months, and players can expect a formal announcement ofthe title forDragonflightPatch 10.1shortly after.
