There are a lot of possibilities that can be explored in the new setting, and another character in the same vein as Krobus would be a welcome addition. While Krobus added a lot of flavor toStardew Valley,Haunted Chocolatiermay have even more potential for such a character.
The ability tobefriend the villagers ofStardew Valleyis one of the game’s selling points, and among those villagers, Krobus is easily one of the most distinct. For starters, he isn’t even human, instead being a Shadow Person, one of the game’s enemy types. Despite this, Krobus himself is peaceful and friendly. In addition, the player won’t be able to meet him until they can unlock the sewers, where he runs a shop. After that, the player can talk to him and give him gifts like any other villager. Krobus' unique nature combined with his lovable personality made him an excellent addition toStardew Valley.

Haunted Chocolatier Could Use Non-Human Friends Like Krobus
Taking into account the morehorror-themed elements ofHaunted Chocolatier, featuring another villager like Krobus just makes sense. After all, the player will already be working with ghosts in their chocolate shop. Having at least one other supernatural creature somewhere in town probably wouldn’t be particularly surprising. One or more of the ghosts could even be a candidate for such a role, especially since the player will be regularly interacting with them anyway.Stardew Valleyhad its supernatural elements, but they will be even more pronounced inHaunted Chocolatier, making the argument for a Krobus-like villager even stronger than the last game’s.
The Dwarf is another non-human that players can befriend inStardew Valley, but they offer less content than Krobus.
There Could Be More Supernatural Partners in Haunted Chocolatier
In addition, even though Krobus wasn’t one ofStardew Valley’s marriage candidates, the player could still have him move in with them. While the relationship wasn’t romantic, Krobus still received a new set of dialogue, and could also give the player gifts similar to the other spouses. Supernatural Friends in Haunted Chocolatier Could Have Many Stories to Tell
Another advantage to introducing more characters like Krobus is expanding thelore ofStardew ValleyandHaunted Chocolatier. Friendly counterparts of the game’s enemies could offer more insight into the world and fill out some gaps in the lore. Depending on the direction of the story, these characters could even have a radical effect on the world through the player’s interaction with them. More parts of the map could open, or more non-hostile members of certain species could start showing up.Haunted Chocolatiercould get creative with more NPCs than just humans, and the game’s story could be better off because of it.
Haunted Chocolatiercould benefit from the presence of one or more Krobus-like characters. There’s a reason why unlockingKrobus' Shop inStardew Valleyis such an achievement, because the main benefit is Krobus himself.
