VRChathas become one of the most popular VR games of all time in a very short time period, Sure, VR has only been marketable for a short while, but nevertheless,VRChathas solidified itself asone of those gameseverybody with access tovirtual realityneeds to play.

One of the best parts of the game is the amount of customization potential. Sure, one can change their avatar and roleplay as any number of popular and original characters, but perhaps the most impressive aspect of the game is the customVRChatworlds coming out of the game’s map-making community.
Updated July 08, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: Some of the best VRChat worlds don’t look particularly pretty like some of the game’s most famous maps, but they offer something different. These best VRChat maps have some kind of interactive, cooperative element that gives players something to do aside from socializing. Putt Putt Quest and Kitchen Cooks! are two such VRChat worlds that give players an actual game to play, but in the end, the best VRChat worlds are the ones that people are actually playing on – there’s not much point in trying a cooperative or competitive game within VRChat if you don’t have an opponent, after all, so be sure to bring some friends along to experience how far the humble VRChat can be pushed.

16Any World With Lots Of Players
The most important thing about selecting a world inVRChatis how many players are active on worlds one is interested in joining. An interesting world, perhaps one with minigames or a unique game mode, is made less interesting when there are only a few players online.
Be sure to keep a few maps in mind when browsing the listings and join those with high player counts to have the best experience in-game possible.VRChatis perfectly enjoyable without being too social, but chatting with others is ultimately baked into the name – it’s an experience made all the better when shared with others, even if they’re complete strangers.

15Putt Putt Quest
Putt Putt Quest is one of the bestVRChatworlds because it’s not just a non-interactive, unexplorable world: it’s a full-fledged mini-golf course. Created byOstinyo, Putt Putt Quest is themed after classic Medieval-style Putt Putt Golf courses, complete with windmills, castle ramparts, and other fantasy staples across its 18-hole course.
The Putt Putt Quest world is available on PC VR sets and Meta Quest systems, but it’s sadly not playable on PSVR (in fact,VRChatas a whole is not available on PlayStation consoles).

14Kitchen Cooks!
Like Putt Putt Quest, Kitchen Cooks! is a world that gives players a goal, something to do aside from walk around and chat with other players. Created byJar, Kitchen Cooks! players are tasked with completing orders as fast as they can to manage the rush of customers at the door.
It receives regular updates, and a few recent ones amped up the number of orders and recipes that players might be asked to make. Kitchen Cooks! is made for co-op, so bring along a friend and try to survive the mayhem of a fast-paced restaurant as a team.

13Firelink Shrine
The Firelink Shrine world is a surprisingly faithful recreation of the iconic location fromDark Soulsthat serves as the anchor location for the player’s adventure. It’s a much larger map than many of the worlds available inVRChatand contains a variety of hidden secrets for fans of the franchise.
For instance, by falling to the bottom of the world behind the ruined area where an elevator would normally be, players are greeted with an all-black room with the red text “YOU DIED” emblazoned in the air. By resetting their starting position, they can get back to the bonfire location – just like inDark Souls, death isn’t a permanent thing inVRChat.

12Sky Camp
Sky Camp is a smaller map with a few different areas available to explore in its vibrant, cartoony world. The main appeal of this map, though, is the potential for meeting new people. The comfortably lit main campfire area is a great place to get to know the real people behind the wacky avatars.
It’s much more stylized than mostVRChatworlds, which tend togo for realism over aesthetic. The world tends to have a low allowance for players, though, so even though it’s one of the bestVRChatworlds for chatting, there’s usually a low max player limit.

11Midnight Rooftop
The Midnight Rooftop map is a complete 180 from Sky Camp, in that it’s a realistic depiction of a top-floor apartment at night. It’s a gorgeously designed map with small details placed everywhere and includes a distant view on the city below to really add to its urban feel.
RELATED:The Best Free VR Games
Midnight Rooftop, like many maps inVRChat, is designed for being social with other players. There are several sitting areas for talking as well as mini-games to play together beset in its dimly lit setting. It is a small-ish map, though, so consider bringing in people you already know or joining a server without too much of a crowd.
10The Great Pug
The Great Pug is one of those VR worldsthat everybody has seen. Streamers spend a lot of time there, content creators feature the well-designed location in countless videos, and it’s a location ripe for fun RP or just to relax with other people.
The Great Pug is a classic pub with a bar, drinks, tables, food, and lots of things to interact with. In VR, it’s even a place to show off your juggling skills – just be careful not to mess up anybody’s drinks, if you’re roleplaying as a bartender.

9Zombie Tag Worlds
Zombie Tag inVRChatworks much as it does in real life. One person starts out “it”, they tag someone, then they too become “it”. The game continues until everybody hassuccumbed to the plagueof being “it”.
InVRChatthis game is brought to a whole new level with lots of custom maps for players to get Zombie Tag games going. Just search for the game mode and look for a server with lots of people to play one of the bestVRChatgames.

8Freeze Tag Worlds
Freeze Tag and Zombie Tag are birds of a feather. Where Zombie tag is about converting everybody into a tagger, Freeze Tag is all about stopping people from moving until nobody can move or rescue each other from being “frozen”.
Much like with Zombie Tag, look for Freeze Tag worlds bysearching for the game modeon the Worlds tab. Make sure to pick a world with a high population so you have someone to play with!

7Big Al’s Avatar Corridors
Big Al’s Avatar Corridors is not necessarily a map that you visit to relax or play a game or anything like that. Instead, it’s more like a museum of costumes where you get to try on and bring home the display.
RELATED:Top-Selling VR Games (According To Steam)
Big Al’s Avatar Corridors is absolutelystuffedwith custom player models that the player can view, try on, and even download. They’re all fully rigged, too, so they won’t look too weird when you talk to other people. It’s not one of the most socialVR Chat worlds, but it’s great for finding a new look.
