The news of Operation Guns' release came four months afterVampire Survivorsannounced its third DLC and first crossover expansion, Emergency Meeting. The DLC included the Polus Replica stage, the ability to play as nine characters from Innersloth’s hit indie title, including a Crewmate and an Impostor, and 15 weapons to choose from.Emergency Meetingarrived first on PC and Xbox consoles in December 2023, with releases on Switch and mobile devices weeks later.
Following the release ofEmergency Meeting,Vampire Survivorslaid out its roadmap for 2024, which included morefree updates and crossover plans. Among the crossover plans was the introduction of the game’s fourth expansion,Operation Guns, which will launch on May 9 on all available platforms, with a planned PS4 and PS5 release in the summer to coincide with the game’s launch on Sony’s consoles. The Operation Guns DLC will cost $2.49, which matches the MSRP of the Emergency Meeting DLC. According totheVampire SurvivorsSteam page, the Operation Guns DLC will include 11 playable characters from theContraseries, such as Bill Rizer, Lance Bean, Sheena Etranzi, and Lucia. The expansion will give players 22 new weapons to pick from, 13 music tracks, a large stage, and a bonus stage.
Vampire Survivors Reveals Operation Guns DLC
The Operation Guns DLC will include a new Adventure set across six chapters. However, theVampire Survivorsdevelopment team stated that the expansion’s weapons would have slightly lower damage output to emulate the difficulty of theContraseries to some extent. The developers added that various Arcana interactions will allow the difficulty of the DLC to be adjusted at the player’s discretion and that some weapons will adhere to the 8-angle firing constraintsthat older Konami titleshad. Some pickups will also be added to theContracontent, including grenades and rapid-firing weapons that can clear through foes quickly.
With an affordable starting price anda charming pixel art style,Vampire Survivorscontinues to be one of the top indie games today. It remains to be seen what else the developers have in store forVampire Survivorsin 2024.
