Hogwarts Legacyspiders spawn in numerous locations, but arachnophobic players can avoid them for several levels. The first mandatory encounter thatHogwarts Legacyplayers will have with the large spiders is in Jackdaw’s Tomb during the campaign. Jackdaw’s Tomb can be located by following a trail west ofHogwarts Legacy’s Hogsmeade villagethat leads to a basin in the middle of a clearing, with an entrance protected by Goblin loyalists. In the midst of their journey through Jackdaw’s Tomb, one wizard fell to their death in a humorous fashion.

Reddit user PaleontologistHot192 recently shared a clip in which they’re exploring Jackdaw’s Tomb inHogwarts Legacy. The clip begins with the player facing a big spider, withtheHogwarts Legacyancient magicprompt floating above it. As this spider burrows into the ground, the wizard casts Protego and retreats to a safer distance while attacking other enemies. While PaleontologistHot192 hit one spider in the distance, the digging creature re-surfaces and attacks the wizard, causing them to fly backward. After PaleontologistHot192 lands, they slide into a narrow crack at the end of a bridge behind them, resulting in a drop into a small den where they get the game over screen.
Although PaleontologistHot192’s customHogwarts Legacywizard is a visibly higher level than the spiders, the mechanics of the game seemingly led to their downfall. While the character died as they fell into the small space, experience from their spider combat continued to fill their Hufflepuff crest. The player was sent through the Jackdaw’s Tomb to “locate the missing pages” from the Hufflepuff House perspective which also focuses onHogwarts Legacy’s Azkaban Prison. Other Hogwarts houses send their students to Jackdaw’s Rest differently, with Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor involving Ollivander, Apollonia Black, and Nearly Headless Nick respectively.
Because PaleontologistHot192 died to one oftheHogwarts Legacyspidersin their video, it’s likely that they lost some progress upon respawning. Though theplayer couldn’t avoid their fall once they were attacked by the digging spider, they may have still been able to Accio it down with them. The hilarious clip shows a unique way to die inHogwarts Legacywhich has an open world full of dangers to avoid.
