Tom Holland’sSpider-Man 4will likely make changes to the team, and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige explained why this behind-the-scenes shakeup may occur.
Holland’sSpider-Mantrilogy, dubbed the ‘Home Trilogy’ for its use of the term in each title, received praise from audiences and critics. Two films,Spider-Man: Far From HomeandNo Way Home, grossed over $1 billion at the box office, ranking among the 10 highest-grossing MCU films. With director Jon Watts behind the helm for each MCU Spider-Man film, one would assume Marvel Studios wants him to return for the fourth instalment. However, Feige explained whySpider-Man 4will probably have a new director.

During an interview withCinemaBlend, Feige explained thatSpider-Man 4will likely move forward without Watts because the filmmaker’s plate is full. “We love Jon. Jon did three of the best Spider-Man films ever for us,” Feige said. “He’s got lots of things going on now. So we’ll probably be looking for somebody else, just because he’s busy.”
Watts' upcoming projects includeStar Wars: Skeleton Crew, a Disney Plus series centred on four children who get lost in the galaxy and embark on an adventure home. Watts wrote all but the fifth and sixth episodes of the series with co-creator Christopher Ford, in addition to directing some of those entries.Star Wars: Skeleton Crewis expected to be released in 2024, as will Watts' upcoming feature film titledWolfs. The latter is a comedy film starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt that follows two ‘lone wolf’ fixers who are forced to work together after being hired for the same job. The film is Watts' first non-Marvel feature film since he directedCop Carin 2015.
