According to a recent social media post, known Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has been banned onTikTokfor a Black Lives Matter-related video. Piker posted as much on Twitter with a communication with TikTok Support, where he claimed that hisTikTokeditor’s account (ostonox) was also banned. The response was that the ban would remain as a result of “hateful behavior.“As many know,Hasan is one of the most viewed streamers on Twitchwhere he discusses news, video games, and left-wing politics, having once been a producer at The Young Turks and a columnist at HuffPost. Content creation is his home now, and it’s no surprise to see the streamer on other platforms like TikTok, given its popularity. However, as of this writing, Hasan’s TikTok account is banned.RELATED:TikTok Star Waffler69 Has Died at Age 33This would not be the first timeHasan was banned on TikTok, with the content creator claiming it was due to a Black Lives Matter post this time around, of which his editor posted in the comments shortly after. Ostonox shared a clip of the TikTok, which shows Hasan reacting to a black woman saying “Black Lives Matter” and a white man saying “All Lives Matter.” Hasan explains the differing sentiments between the two phrases, stating that the first emphasizes that all lives cannot matter until black lives matter because of how “black people are disproportionately targeted by the criminal justice system and sometimes even killed as a consequence.”

Hasan explains, on the other hand, how the phrase “All Lives Matter” ignores that reality, and those who cling to this phrase think it’s wrong to bring that reality up, in any context.Hasanclaims that the two extremes are completely different, and after this, he resumes the video. The white man in the video is asked why he thinks that, to which he responds, “Because I feel like my life matters too, and I’m not black.”

It would seem that the hateful behavior claimed by TikTok in this video, at least as suggested by Ostonox, is the suggestion that black folks are killed by this disproportionate prejudice and justice system. Given the context here, it’s hard to believe such a claim could be taken as hateful behavior, but if nothing else, this is somethingHasan may be used to on Twitch, TikTok, and other platforms because of how outspoken he is. At the same time, it’s entirely possible that it isn’t Hasan’s words leading to the ban, but those of the content he is reacting too. It’s hard to say for sure, but either way, many are left scratching their head by this ban.
