As if it wasn’t nerve-wracking enough managing ammunition rarer than gold,Resident Evilalso has some weapons that don’t deserve that ammunition or even a spot in the inventory. It’s almost as if that’s the game’s idea of a cruel joke. Some weapons simply are not that good in most of the series' scenarios. To make matters worse, sometimes, players are forced to use them as a last resort.

Throughout all of theResident Evilgames there are always weapons that underperform or were just unique for the sake of it. Thus, some of them don’t exactly fare well as reliable weapons in the middle of the grimiest zombie apocalypse known in gaming. With that in mind, the next time players find themselves loose in Raccoon City or some provincial town that’s way too far from being Instagrammable, it’s better to avoid these weapons.
8Bubble Gun - Resident Evil: Revelations 2
The Bubble Gun looks like a joke weapon, and, based on its function, that’s somewhat correct. The unique weapon can be unlocked inResident Evil: Revelations 2after completing all the episodes of Countdown Mode. In terms of usefulness, it’s not entirely defunct. The Bubble Gun shoots bubbles that will freeze any enemy they hit.
That’s the extent of its function. Players will have toswitch weaponsor let someone else do the killing for them after they freeze their targets. After that, players will have to use a better weapon to complete the one-two punch combo. With all that’s been said and done, a simple weapon that kills on its own still does a better job.

7LZ Answerer - Resident Evil Village
The LZ Answerer is one of the fanciest weapons inResident Evil Villagebecause it’s literally a lightsaber fromStar Wars. However, players shouldn’t expect it to function like a lightsaber. The LZ Answerer has the animations of a knife. It does deal more damage than the usual knives, but players will still be putting themselves in melee range.

That means it’s usuallya weaponreserved for subsequent playthroughs in which the game no longer poses much of a challenge. The LZ Answerer does have a gimmick where players can switch it to double-bladed lightsaber mode, but then it will just function like a karambit knife.
6Bare Fists - Resident Evil 7
Bare Fists are thankfully notavailable as a weapon for Ethan Winters inResident Evil 7. He’s lost his hands too many times for him to use knuckles as weapons. Instead, Joe Baker gets to use Bare Fists in theEnd of ZoeDLC forResident Evil 7. These are Joe Baker’s starting weapons in his inventory.
Sure enough, players will want to find alternatives for these knuckles. They not only have poor melee range, but they also deal terrible damage. While they also appear in the inventory, players need not equip them in order for Joe to punch. Otherwise, that would have been too much of a bother.

5AMG - Resident Evil 7
One of the reasons why Bare Fists were available asweapons for Joe Baker inResident Evil 7is that he’ll later replace it with the AMG. That’s short for Advanced Multi-purpose Gauntlet. It sounds like a Swiss army knife weapon, but really, it’s just an upgraded punching tool.

Joe Baker will still be in poor punching melee range and will still be confined to one of the most limiting fighting methods available to human beings. If anything, Joe Baker shouldn’t have bothered and could have stuck with his signature double-barrel shotgun during the Zoe ordeal.
4The P.R.L. 412 - Resident Evil 4
The P.R.L. 412 fromResident Evil 4is quite possibly the most powerful weapon in the game. It can one-shot most enemies and can even kill some bosses in just a couple of charged hits. It’s like a superweapon in Leon Kennedy’s hands. So why is it impractical? Because it’s given a little too late.
Players will have to finishResident Evil 4in Professional Mode in order to obtain The P.R.L. 412. Anyone who has gone through that level of the game will find little use for The P.R.L. 412. At best, it’s a weapon that allows players to breeze through subsequent playthroughs. Also, where was this weapon when the world needed it most?

3Spark Shot - Resident Evil 2 Remake
Spark Shot fromResident Evil 2 Remakeis exactly what it sounds like. It’s a stun gun. The Spark Shot just paralyzes the target and gives players enough time to run away from them. It might see a bit of use when players are conserving ammunition, but, even then, it’s easy to just bait low-level enemies into melee attacks.

At best, the Spark Shot is only useful for one type of enemy which is the G-Adult zombie. It’s effective against them and will kill them if their eyeballs are exposed. However, reserving a weapon for one enemy type is not exactly a cost-efficient tacticinResident Evil; unless said enemy is a boss, that is.
2Flash Grenade - Resident Evil 6
The Flash Grenade was once effective against the Plaga enemies in some of the earlierResident Evilgames. Too bad those don’t exist inResident Evil 6so the Flash Grenade’s usefulness is neutered in this game. It can still stun enemies, allowing players to just run past threats, but there are better tactics for that and it’s usually only good for subsequent playthroughs.
Like the Spark Shot inResident Evil 2, the Flash Grenade does excel at killing certain types of enemies such as the Mesec, apparently. Though, at only a maximum stack of five, the Flash Grenade doesn’t really inspire repeated uses against this enemy type.

12x4 - Resident Evil: Resistance
Resident Evil: ResistanceispracticallyResident Evilbut with aLeft 4 Deadtwist. As such, it brings to the table a nice variety of weapons and one of them is the 2x4 wood plank in the melee category. It’s hard for that kind of crude construction reject to compete against sledgehammers and even knives.
After all, the 2x4 is just a thick wooden stick that doesn’t even have the same center of gravity as a baseball bat. Even in real life, it’s already hard to whack someone unconscious as the wood has a tendency to break first, so using it against zombies is just too desperate a move.
