runner in the last of us part 2

6Runners

Fast, Aggressive & Horde-Like

Runners are the first type of infected that players are bound to run into. These are the most common, and they act as those who have just recently been infected. They are noted for their aggressive shouting and groaning, as well as their intense speed, which will see them chase after players as soon as they are seen or heard.

The easiest way to counter runners is to stay in hard-to-reach spots so that the speed of Runners is deterred by the fact that they have to squeeze between gaps or climb. A headshot will easily take care of a runner, but Ellie and Abby can dodge their sluggish melee attacks and counter with their own. It’s usually a good idea totake care of Runners separately through stealth, as once alerted, Runners will stick together in a horde to get their prey.

stalker in the last of us part 2

5Stalkers

Hide, Attack When Opportunity Presents Itself

Stalkers have been infected just under a year, and as the Cordyceps continue to take over their bodies, players will be able to note them for the large stalks of fungus on their faces. Stalkers are a cowardly lot, and they usually negate players’ hearing ability, since they sneak around and hide behind walls to try and get a surprise attack in on the player.

They are fast and agile, and even when Stalkers spot the player, they should not alert other enemies, and will instead peek behind walls and corners. The easiest way to deal with them is to keep the flashlight on, as they lurk in the dark, and when spotted, players should line up a headshot with a bow or a silenced pistol, since getting behind them is a difficult task.

clicker in the last of us part 2

4Clickers

Deaf, Death When Grabbed

Over a year of infection will see a Clicker come to rise. These are rather common threats that players will see, and they are noted for their incessant clicking noises, which they use to echolocate their prey. With fungus covering their face, a headshot will not kill them, as the fungus acts as armor. The best way to deal with Clickers is to remain in stealth, as to not anger the Clicker. However, players must be aware of the fact that Clickers have sensitive hearing, so it’s best to sneak nice and slow.

When players get behind Clickers, they can only kill them through stealth if they have a Shiv. If players are also grabbed by Clickers, they will instantly be killed, unless they have a Shiv on hand to defend themselves. If players are not concerned about stealth, then the best way to deal with a Clicker is to use a heavy-hitting gun in thisdark third-person shooter, like a shotgun to the body, or, throw a bottle or a brick and then use a melee weapon to strike.

shambler in the last of us part 2

3Shamblers

Acid Bursts, Strong Strikes

Shamblers are found all around Seattle due to years of infection that have been heightened by rainfall and water sources. Shamblers are definitely worth avoiding, aswhen they see their prey, they expel spores from their body, which cause acid burns to the player’s health. These spores will cause area-of-effect damage, so Shamblers should be fought at a reasonable distance, especially since death is assured if a Shambler grabs the player.

It’s not easy to stealth kill a Shambler, so it’s best to avoid them and take care of other enemies first. When it’s just a Shambler, heavy-hitting weapons like shotguns, rifles, and explosives will make quick work of these hulking monsters. However, it’s worth noting that when a Shambler dies, it will explode its spores, so avoid the acid cloud until it dissipates.

bloater in the last of us part 2

2Bloaters

Tank-Like Infected That Instakills

Several years of infection can create Bloaters, hulking, slow, and blind enemies that are perhaps the most dangerous threat. There is no way to stop a Bloater if it grabs the player, and the sheer strength of this enemy will rip apart the face of either Ellie or Abby with ease. If players encounter a bloater, the easiest action is to avoid them or to keep them at a reasonable distance.

Bloaters will try and close the distance by charging, or by throwing their fungal growth on their bodies to make spore bombs that cause an area of effect damage. Their intense fungus skin acts as armor plating, meaning they can shrug off most shots. The easiest way to kill Bloaters inThe Last of Us Part 2is to burn them with fire or use explosives and shotguns. Burning them is their weakness, but explosives and shotguns will destroy their armor, weakening them until death is assured.

rat king in the last of us part 2

1Rat King

A Hulking Mass Of Infected

There is only one Rat King inThe Last of Us Part 2, but it’s one too many. The Rat King is a disturbing amalgamation of infected, which have all grown into one entity after twenty years of infection. The Rat King can be found at the Seattle hospital, and players will need to utilize everything they can in order to kill this thing. The sheer size and cluster of infected within the Rat King means it can tank multiple shots from rifles, shotguns, explosives, and flamethrowers.

The best way to kill the Rat King inThe Last of Us Part 2is to simply chip away at its health and to be careful and watch for its charges and swipes. Utilizing fire from flamethrowers and molotovs to eat away at its health is a good idea, as well as using shotguns and pipe bombsuntil there’s only one survivor.
