Who Are the Primordial Demons
Compared to the other races in the series, demons are unique because their strength is mainly based on their age. The older a demon is, the stronger it will be. Just to put in perspective,a single 100 ~ 400 years old demonwould give a group of A-Rank adventurers a run for their money. Demons that are above 1000 years old can easily destroy an entire city. As for the Primordial, well, they have been around since the dawn of time. That means every single one of them can level an entire nation without breaking a sweat.
Due totheir absurd appetite for combat and violence, the mortality rate of the demon race is incredibly high. Interestingly enough, most of those deaths happen due to infighting. That is why it is incredibly hard for a demon to reach an old age. That is also why older demons are stronger and feared by their peers. As for the Primordials, they sit at the top of the food chain, and every demon in Hell is basically their subordinate. There are only seven Primordials in Hell, and every single demon there is assigned to either one of them, usually based on their personality and preferences.
They are usually chilling in hell, but every once in a while, these Primordial demons would appear in the human world, and cause untold amounts of killings and destruction. Since they have appeared numerous times throughout the ages, historians have assigned certain names to them, based on their appearance. They use the French words for colors to describe these primordials.
Rougefor Primordial Red,Bleufor Primordial Blue,Vertfor Primordial Green,Noirfor Primordial Black,Jaunefor Primordial Yellow,Blancfor Primordial White, andVioletfor Primordial Purple. In case you don’t know,Rouge is the Demon Lord Guy Crimson, while Noir is Diablo.
The Power of Primordial Demons
As mentioned earlier, the Primordial Demons inThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimepossess incomparable power and capabilities. To compare their power to a natural calamity is an insult to them. They can unleash devastating attacks, manipulate the fabric of reality, and exhibit extraordinary magical abilities. Most of them are more than capable in close-quarter combat situations, but more often than not, they simply annihilate their opponents by the sheer force of their magic.
Just like every other demon, the Primordials are specialized in darkness magic. However, they are also experts in other types of magic as well. Though it’s worth noting that different Primordials have different approaches to combat. Some prefers to give their opponents a quick and painless death, such as Rouge, some prefers to give a slow, painful, and torturous death,such as Diablo, and there are also those who loves to be as flashy as possible with their attacks, such as Testarossa, Ultima, and Carrera.
We haven’t seen the Primordials go all out in the anime, but some of them have done so in the light novel,specifically Ultima, Testarossa, and Carrera. Just to put into perspective how powerful they are, these are some of the devastating magic that they’ve used to wipe out thousands of people at once.
The Primordial Demons in the Anime
InThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, the Primordial Demons play a significant role in shaping the narrative and influencing the fates of the characters. They are portrayed as key players in the grand tapestry of conflicts and alliances within the anime’s world. There are already several Primordial demons in the human world before the story begins. They areGuy Crimson and the two Primordialsthat he brought along with him as his subordinate, which is Misery the Green, and Rain the Blue.
The next one that comes to the series is Diablo. Later on in the series, in order to devote himself more as Rimuru’s second secretary, Diablo asks Rimuru to summon some of his most trusted colleagues. At the time, Rimuru doesn’t know anything about the Primordial Demon and just casually agreed to not only summon the Primordial White, Violet, and Yellow, buthe also decided to name them. Since Diablo is named after Lamborghini Diablo, he decided to use the same Supercar naming scheme to the three Demoness. Testarossa from Ferrari Testarossa, Ultima from Ultima GTR, and Carrera from Porsche Carrera GT.
The inclusion of the three Primordials represent thepeak of Rimuru’s easy-going nature. Because the addition of one Primordial Demon into one’s army can easily shift the balance of power in the world. And yet he decided to add three more into his ranks. At this point, it’s clear that Rimuru’s Jura Tempest Federation has the most powerful military power in the world. And that makes the neighboring nation, even Guy himself, a bit wary with this new slime demon lord.
