There are many games in development that are aiming to capture the same magic asPokemonand iterate on its creature-collecting RPG formula, including Vewo Interactive’sNexomon: Extinctionand Crema Games' evolving MMOTemtem. After weeks of teasing on social media, Crema released the official trailer forTemtem’s Kisiwa Island update, available tomorrow.

The update will add its titular Kisiwa Island to the game, where Temtem tamers can find 23 new monsters while stopping an invasion by the evil Clan Belsoto and its leader General X, according to IGN — which exclusively hosted the update trailer. Also being added are new attack animations and biomes, special climbing gear to traverse different environments, and an increase in the game’s level cap that will allow itsthree starter Temtemto evolve into their final forms.

Another major facet of the update is the addition of a new Chat functionality that allows players to talk out loud or speak privately to other users, as well as the ability to block and report players for inappropriate behavior. Clubs,Temtem’s take on theClan system seen in other multiplayer games likeDestiny 2, will be added as social hubs that allow up to 50 players the opportunity to chat and create custom banners. More gameplay features for Clubs will be added in future updates.

The developers ofTemtemhave been very upfront with their plans for the game, releasing a mid-term roadmap forTemtemin February that outlines more new islands, a “Nuzlocke” mode styled after the popularPokemonfan creation, and more. With each major update the game’s price will increase, according to Crema, and the Kisiwa Island update will bring it from $35 to $37.50.

One big focus for the future of the game is the release ofTemtemports for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, planned for sometime in spring 2021. Crema Games is also interested in adding cross-play and cross-save features alongside these releases, but needs to make sure they are viable for the game first.

Despite it having run into technical troubles when it was first released in early access this January,Temtemappears to have gotten itself on-track. Crema Games' MMO looks to have a bright future, and luckily fans can look forward to trying Kisiwa Island soon.

Temtemis available now on PC in early access. Ports for PS4, Switch, and Xbox One are in development.
