There are twelve Shines throughout this level, but only eight episodes. This is because of a 100-coin Shine, and two bonus Shines, which are all separate from the main level quests. This little guide gives players a general idea of how to get each one with ease. With that said, let’s dive into this shine by shine guide to Bianco Hills!

This one is somewhat direct given its title. Head down the road and hover over the wall to the right. In this episode, the door is closed, so it’s necessary to cross the wall. Next, continue heading up the road to see what appear to be boulders shooting out of some goo. It turns out that the perpetrator is a goo-covered Piranha Plant.

Use FLUUD to fight the flower. Once defeated, a platform will rise and a Shine will be revealed. That’s it for this one! Short and simple!

10Episode 2: Down With Petey Piranha!

Speaking of Piranha Plants, this episode includes the most famous one of them all. Petey Piranha is back forSuper Mario Sunshine, and he’s grumpier than ever. To complete this episode, Mario must climb the tower in the middle of the lake. This will prove itself extra difficult since Petey has spikey vines spread throughout the entire tower.

After reaching the top, a short cutscene will play. Mario and Petey will fall through the floor, and the battle commences. This dude spits out goo and throws Swoopin' Stus at Mario. In order to defeat him, spray water into his mouth and then ground-pound him afterward. Repeat this a few times and claim victory!

This is one of those fun little classicMario-style levels. Yes, that’s right. Blocks and cubes.Nintendo definitely has a thing for games and cubes. Moving on, this level is full of 90s nostalgia, and there are many more to come! Here, though,Mariomust complete this small level to obtain the Shrine and steal FLUUD back from Shadow Mario.

8Episode 4: Red Coins of Windmill Village

Again, this level pretty much explains itself with its title. There are eight red coins, andMariomust collect them all to make the Shine appear. This involves some tightrope-walking and lots of hovering. Thankfully, the coins are generally easy to spot. Just watch out for the red wire traps. These make it difficult to travel via, well… wire.

This entire level is sort of like a coin-collection session. There are blue coins as well, so it’s best to multitask and collect both blue and red coins. This is a little time-consuming, which explains howSuper Mario Sunshinetakes longer to complete than any otherMarioplatformer.

7Episode 5: Petey Piranha Strikes Back

Defeat? Petey Piranha has never heard of that! He’s back for more, and this time, he has Poinks! These little floating pig-like creatures actually come in handy, though. First, head to the wall that’s above the giant wheel, where you’ll see a sludge-covered hillside. Clear off the area and find Petey off sleeping on a distant ledge.

The Poinks are friends inSuper Mario Sunshine! Find the break in the fence, use FLUUD to suck up the Poinks, then shoot them at Mr. Piranha. He will wake up angrily and cross the ravine to fight. Shoot him out of the sky and ground-pound him until he meets his demise.

6Episode 6: The Secret Of The Dirty Lake

No one likes to swim in dirty lake water. Unfortunately for Mario, this dirty lake water is actually poisonous. So, it’s best to avoid it at all costs. If Mario falls in, use FLUUD to get out of there fast! This time, the goal is to enter the cave that actually connects to the lake. Hovering is the best option since the path is covered in dirty water.

Upon entering, Shadow Mario steals FLUUD, and Mario is met with another classic-style level. Complete this level to receive the Shine and get Mr. FLUUD back!

5Episode 7: Shadow Mario On The Loose

Shadow Mario is running wild and free this time. As usual, Mario must chase the guy down and spray him with FLUUD. After spraying him so many times, he will give up and express his frustration. Shadow Mario isn’t too threatening though, so there’s really nothing to be afraid of.

That’s all there is to this one! It’s a quick, simple Shine, just as long as Mario can keep up with his creepy double. At least he’s actually out in the open this time, instead of stealing FLUUD and leaving Mario hanging dry.

4Episode 8: Red Coins Of The Lake

Ah, yes, more red coins! While frustrating, these episodes really aren’t too difficult. The best thing to remember is that the rocket nozzle comes in handy here. Most of these coins are up high, so use the nozzle to your advantage.

This level’s going to feel like a circus act with all the wire hopping high above the lake. However, never fear! FLUUD is here! As long asMariomakes sure his tank is full, collecting the red coins is doable. Just try not to scream after falling into the lake for the 47th time.

3100 Coins Shine

Ever wonder how many coins it takes to get one whole Shine? Well, wonder no more. This level’s focus is on regular coin-collection. After obtaining all 100 coins, a Shine will appear. The cool thing is that players can choose whatever level they want to collect 100 coins in.

However, most players suggest that Episode 3 is the easiest route for getting all these coins. Most of the coins will come from enemies, like the flowers and the Pokies. That being said, keep a close watch for stray coins throughout the level as well.

2Secret Shine 1: The Hillside Cave Secret

Now for the secret Shines. In The Hillside Cave level, Episode 3, there will now be a red button to ground-pound. After doing so, a red coin collection challenge begins. The coins are spread out throughout this classic-styled level. Players only have one minute to obtain them all.

This is definitely more difficult than getting the original Hillside Cave Secret Shine. Thanks to the coin placement, Mario actually has to maneuver the moving blocks and platforms with a lot more caution and precision than before. This one requires lots of patience.
