HearthstoneandTeamfight Tacticsstreamer Disguised Toast reveals why he left Twitch. The streamerleft Twitch for Facebook Gamingin November, after other popular streamers such as Ninja and CouRage JD also left the site.

Speaking toThe Hollywood Reporter, Disguised Toast said that he “felt a little plateaued in terms of my growth on Twitch.” The streamer had enjoyed his first and second year on Twitch but by his third and fourth years, he had “felt a little like I’d done all the things I can,” which is why he moved toFacebook Gaming. Disguised Toast also said that there is “pressure on Twitch to constantly stream games that your audience wants to watch, not necessarily the ones you want to play.” One game that Disguised Toast streams more than most isLeague of Legends.

Disguised Toast’s reason for leaving Twitch is different from other streamers who have also left the site this year. Ninja’s wife and manager, Jessica Blevins, revealed that the streamer hadleft Twitch so that he can sign more brand deals. Twitch had not allowed Ninja to take on many deals with other companies because of his contract with the site, but moving to Mixer means that he can do those deals. Signing a contract with another site, which can potentially make millions of dollars, also means that streamers don’t have to worry about the impact viewer numbers have on their income.

Disguised Toast also told the publication that talks about where top streamers will land is “very expected,” suggesting that fans could see more streamers leaving Twitch. The site has been criticized several times by streamers who don’t likeTwitch’s ban systemand have asked the site to provide more information about how it chooses to ban people and why.

It’s unclear how much Disguised Toast was offered to move to Facebook Gaming but it may not have been the key motivating factor. This could be great for growing streaming sites as they won’t have to pay as much to get streamers to leave Twitch. If they can show streamers that they offer better features and more ways for them to make money, it could be enough incentive to consider a switch.
