The Human Resistance is the coalition of technologically-advanced humans who have banded together to fight the Infernal Host who have come to conquer Earth. These units have a scientific, mobile design to them, and many of their buildings look impermanent and pre-fabricated.Stormgateis even playing with animations that have the buildings 3D-print themselves, rather than by having workers actively build them. With battle suits, flying marines, and giant mechs, the Human Resistance hearkens back tothe Terrans fromStarcraft.

The Infernal Host, on the other hand, is full of demonic monsters hell-bent on total destruction. According to art director Jesse Brophy, the Infernal Host is a warmongering society of aliens who warp through stormgates to devour life force, called Anima, and assimilate enemies into their ranks. With scythe-wielding humanoids, giant metal-plated demon monsters, and cute little gremlin workers, the Infernal Host may remind players of a mix betweenthe forces of Hell inDiabloand the Zerg fromStarcraft.

The concept art shown off in these recent developer posts is all in-progress work–Brophy said the concepts were an exploration of design, and there was no guarantee these units would make it into the game. Nevertheless, seeing the designsStormgateis developing has gotten many fans even moreexcited about the upcoming RTS.Stormgatehas promised to show off some gameplay footage in the new year ahead of the beta, so players may see some of these potential units in action soon.

Stormgateis currently in development for PC, with plans for Beta Testing to begin early 2023.
