Summary
Jewel of the Freestar Collective, Akila City is the perfect spot for players who love the vibe of space cowboys and scoundrels inStarfield. It’s a bit more rough around the edges comparedto New Atlantisand with much fewer side quests due to its inferior size.

Even so, when players do eventually make it to the Cheyenne System and Akila City, there are a few side quests that are totally optional, but which shouldn’t be missed. Not only are the rewards decent, but they provide a bit more context into the Freestar Collective lore. Moreover, the local faction quest is technically optional as well, but shouldn’t be missed for those who plan on completing the game fullyand proceeding to New Game+inStarfield.
4Charity Of The Wolf
Players will eventually overhear some of the Akila City guards mentioningAmira, a woman managing the Low House. It turns out Amira requires a bit of assistance to keep the place up and running for the less fortunate, and players can start off by making a donation and tracking down a missing shipment.
The quest concludes with a collection of donations from some of the local NPCs, which gives players a nice tour of the city and its main inhabitants. It’s nothing extraordinary, but it highlights the different social hierarchies of the Freestar Collective and how the locals are handling it, compared to the UC.

3Defensive Measures
Ashta are a constant nuisance and threat to the people of Akila City, but not everyone agrees on how to handle these pesky beasts. Head left from the main road of Akila City when first entering the city, and players will eventually walk up to a commotion between two women and a man.

Keoni and Davis are in disagreement over the Ashta situation, and players have a chance to make a change here. This three-part quest is a short and sweet look into Ashta, city defenses, and how the locals are handling the pressure of living as settlers in relatively harsh conditions. The only downside is that players will need to wait between the quest steps and come back again once Keoni is ready, but the 100 XP per quest step reward more than makes up for that.
2Last Will & Testament
Depending on how players handle this one,the quest rewardscan either be a little over 10,000 in credits with a tiny bit of XP, or 100 XP and a moderate 2500 in credits. To start, speak with the local mayor, located by his manor, which is on the right side of The Rock.

Players are tasked with getting the last will of a farmer and to either let Frank know about the contents of the will or speak directly to Elias Cartwright. It’s a relatively simple one, and a nice opportunity for players to roleplay their characters accordingly.
1Job Gone Wrong
It wouldn’t be right not to mention the Freestar Ranger questline when discussing Akila City. This quest is absolutely pivotal to the location, but also to understanding the Freestar Collective and their culture. It sheds light on Starfield’s major faction, while also sending players on a wild chase for a conspiracy of the highest degree that threatens the local farmers and their lands.
To start this questline, players only need to enter Akila City for the first time and help the locals deal with a hostage situation at GalBank. Dealing with the situation well leaves Daniel Blake impressed, with a recommendation to speak with Emma Wilcox about joining the rangers at The Rock. It’s also possible to go straight to Emma Wilcox to start the Deputized quest immediately.

This quest line comes with some of the best rewards for a starting player, including a boatload of credits and new gear. It also culminates in players earning the Star Eagle, which is a decent ship that can be acquired pretty early on, and will make other, more challenging quests that involve space combat a walk in the park. AlthoughStarfieldcan be completed without ever joining the rangers, it’s highly recommended to complete the questline fully for the best endgame resultsfor the Constellation main quest.
Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
