Star Wars: The Bad Batchwas enough of a hit for Disney Plus that it’s long been known that it was going to be getting a second season. Now, it appears that the official release date for season 2 of the animatedStar Warsseries has been announced.
Star Wars: The Bad Batchis both a spinoff and a sequel toThe Clone Wars, and it was created by one of the most beloved names in the franchise these days, Dave Filoni. The first season launched on May 21 of 2021, but the series was greenlit for a second installment before the season finale. The first season ran for 16 episodes and while it’s not quite clear if the second will have the same number of episodes, it looks like fans now know when they’ll be able to see how many episodes are coming.

While there wasn’t an official announcement or tweet in the way Disney Plus has been rolling out news for the last few months, the release date forStar Wars: The Bad Batchseason 2came by way of a new banner ad on the streaming platform’s official website. The new ad shows the characters of the show standing together and looking out over a brand-new sci-fi landscape. Above the picture, there’s the slogan reading, “Season 2 coming September 28.” At the moment, that appears to be the only news about the next season’s launch date.
It’s not entirely clear what will bein store forThe Bad Batchseason 2, though there have been some hints about what the group might be getting into. However, the trailer for the upcoming installment did show that Emperor Palpatine and Commander Cody will be making some sort of appearance. It also appears that there is going to be a Wookie Jedi thrown into the mix.
The first season showed the group of clone troopers who were firstintroduced inThe Clone Warsthat had something go wrong with their cloning. It appears that whatever made them “a bad batch” when it came to cloning also allowed them to resist Order 66 and has them standing out among an army of clone troopers who suddenly turned against the Jedi.
One other tease for season 2 indicates that there is going to be some kind of time skip to start the next installment. Thecomposer forThe Bad Batchpreviously said that season 2 will feature an older Alpha, who is going to be a better teammate and fighter for the outcast clones.
