Star Wars: Squadronswill launch with eight playable starfighters. Half of them will be different types ofImperial TIE fighters, and the other will be different Rebel “wings.” However, whenSquadronsrevealed this list of ships to the public, fans quickly noticed that the B-wing — possibly the most popular wing-model of them all — wasn’t included.

As such, whenStar Wars: SquadronsDirector Ian Frazier held a recent press event for the game, fans took the opportunity to ask him directly whether or not the B-wing — along with other popular starfighters — would be included in a potential future update. In his response, Frazier decided to use his answer to address the idea ofStar Wars: Squadrons' DLC as a whole.

According to Fraizer,Star Wars: Squadronswill not add content through future updates, meaning that the current eight ships available will be the only ones. Fraizer acknowledges the popularity and enthusiasm for the B-wing, but he and EA want to create and sell a complete game right from the start.

In Frazier’s own words, he and his team at Motive Studios “don’t have any plans for DLC or live service content at this time.” Fraizer wants to simply give customers the complete package: “Like here’s the box, thank you for your $40, please enjoy.” Overall, his answer echoes his past address aboutStar Wars: Squadronsmicrotransactions.

Of course, Fraizer is saying thatMotive Studioscurrently doesn’t have plans for DLC, and not that DLC won’t ever happen. It may be small, but that does mean there’s a chance the developer could add new ships into the game sometime after launch. And if not, maybe the game will do well enough to warrant a sequel that will include everyone’s favored starfighter.

While it may disappoint that things like B-wings and Jedi Fighters aren’t coming,Star Wars Squadrons' customizationstill exists. Players will be able to customize and pilot their own space-faring vessel when the game launches. Some may find their personal designs to be better than the B-wing’s when all is said and done.

If that’s not enough, PC players will be able to playStar Wars: Squadronswith their HOTAS flight sticks. On top of this, players will also be able to turn off the game’s HUD, so becoming immersed in the whole experience will be fairly easy. Motive Studios may add DLC in the future, but for now, the base game should suffice.

Star Wars: Squadronswill release July 31, 2025, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
