Summary

Ubisoft has recently released a new story trailer forStar Wars Outlaws, and there’s a certain well-known character who makes an appearance. However, this isn’t the first time this character has made an appearance in a trailer forStar Wars Outlaws. The character in question is none other than the scoundrel-turned-rebel hero Han Solo.

Han Solo is one of the most well-knownStar Warscharacters and first appeared in the originalStar Warsfilm,A New Hope. Han Solo’s appearance inOutlaws' trailers aligns with his fate of being frozen in carbonite between the filmsThe Empire Strikes BackandReturn of the Jedi. But withStar Wars' Han Soloappearing in two separate trailers for the game, it could be possible that he is more than just a cameo, and that may not be for the best.

Han Solo Could Be An Important Figure in Star Wars Outlaws

Han Solo Has Been Shown Twice in The Trailers So Far

Out of all the trailers released forStar Wars Outlawsso far, a carbon-frozen Han Solo has appeared in two trailers. This begs the question of whether Han Solo is more important than previously thought. When he was first seen in a trailer, it was assumed he would just appear as a cameo, but with him appearing in the recent story trailer, he could have a far bigger role.

As to what his role will be, it is uncertain as it could pertain to many things, from being a reminder to protagonist Kay Vess to not cross or angerStar Wars' Jabba the Hutt(an infamous crime lord in the franchise) to a more unexpected role. Nevertheless, Han Solo will be appearing inStar Wars Outlawsto some degree, even if he’s only ever brazenly shown off in his frozen state.

Will Star Wars Outlaws Unfreeze Then Refreeze Han Solo for the Story?

One possibility for Han Solo’s involvement, albeit a role that could be a little far-fetched, is that the story could involve Han Solo being unfrozen from carbonite to help Kay Vess with the heist she’s attempting to pull off, only to be refrozen by the end of the game and just in time for the events ofReturn of the Jedi.

That said, it could be argued that this potential avenue would be ill-received by fans of the original trilogy for numerous reasons. One big reason is that modernStar Warstends to retcon aspects of the franchise. Another reason could be that it is best to leave Han Solo alone, as he’s such an iconic character in the franchise. IfStar Wars Outlawsdoes go down this route, it will hopefully be done in a way that makes sense and won’t harm the integrity of the original trilogy in any way.

How Han Solo Could Play Into the Story of Star Wars Outlaws

There is one other way that Han Solo could play a key role inStar Wars Outlaws, and that’s being used as a reminder for Kay Vess to succeed in the heist and not fall prey to those hunting her.Bounty hunters inStar Warstend to freeze their targets in carbonite after they have captured them, and some crime lords like to display those bounties that have angered them for all to see, like what happened to Han Solo before he was rescued.

In the story trailer, Sliro is revealed to be the primary antagonist ofStar Wars Outlaws, and he has put a bounty on Kay Vess’ head. If he’s anything like Jabba the Hutt, then he could potentially be the type of crime lord to display those who have angered him for all to see as an example to others. Therefore, this would render Han Solo as a metaphorical warning and motivation forthe protagonist Kay Vess, as she wouldn’t want to end up in the same situation as Han Solo.

Still, exploiting this imagery and Solo’s character wouldn’t be to the benefit ofOutlawsif all it ends up doing is leaning on nostalgia and iconography. Either way, no matter what Han Solo’s role will be, seeing him inStar Wars Outlawswill certainly be a treat for fans of the original trilogy.
