ThePlayStation 5is only a few days away from its heavily anticipated release, but Sony has done something special for a fan that made headlines back when the PS4 launched. Sending a package full of goodies themed around thePS5, the PlayStation player has been awarded for his dedication 7 years ago.
The gift has been a long time coming for Joey Chiu, the PlayStation fan that showed incredible patience back when the previous Sony console launched. Waiting in line for hours and hours, Chiu’s dedication earned him the recognition of being the very first PlayStation 4 owner. If that were not enough, however, Chiu doubled down and waited in line once againfor the PlayStation 4 Pro, making him a two-time holder of the first adopter title.

With the COVID-19 pandemic ruining the common practice of waiting in line for the latest console launch, it would seem like Chiu’s streak of getting a PlayStation console as early as possible was destined to come to an end. However, Sony came to the rescue,shipping a PlayStation 5 consoleto Chiu as well as a few other special goodies. The special package was posted by Chiu on Twitter, with the gamer saying that “this is the craziest thing to happen.”
Chiu’s version ofthe heavily praised PlayStation 5 consolecomes with a special plaque from Sony that acknowledges the gamer’s past achievements, reading “patience is a virtue” and “this is for you.” With Chiu’s name on the award as well as both “first in line” titles, the early access to the console and custom-made trophy would have been enough to satisfy any loyal fan. Sony went above and beyond, though, providing Chiu with another valuable reward.
According to a follow-up tweet where Chiu responded to another PlayStation fan, the gamer was also given a “digital code that has the whole launch lineup” for the PS5. With that one code providing access to exclusive gameslikeSpider-Man: Miles MoralesandDemon’s Souls, Chiu is receiving hundreds of dollars’ worth of games for free to go along with his new console. As expected, the fan is blown away by the special acknowledgement from Sony, and his overjoyed reaction to the package is incredibly wholesome.
Sony’s special gift to Joey Chiu is a great example of positive fan interaction ahead of the console launch, and it is nice to see the company remember his dedication all those years ago.
