For many nostalgicSonicfans,Sonic Originsseemed to be one of the best games to pick up this summer. Combining four classicSonictitles into one package,Sonic Originsnot only gave older fans a chance to return to some of their favorite games, but also aimed to give new players an easy way to get into the series. As well as just remastering retroSonictitles,Sonic Originsalso added Mirror Mode, which flips the original levels to give players a new challenge, along with other new features.Despite the hype leading up toSonic Origins, when it released, there was a mixed reception from fans. While many were glad to get their hands on their favorite games again,SonicOriginsreleased with a number of issues that some players could not ignore. Alongside changes to the original games, such as theremoval of some music fromSonic 3, theSoniccommunity online has asked for the bugs within the collection to be fixed. Now, Sega has responded.RELATED:Rumor: Sonic Origins May Contain Pieces of Sonic Frontiers' FilesSega of America’s Social Media Manager Katie Chrzanowski spoke toSonicfans on Twitter, informing them that fixes to the bugs in the game were on the way. Chrzanowski stated that the team working onSonic Originshad “been listening” and is currently working on “fixing a variety of issues right now.” It wasn’t stated when these fixes will come toSonic Originsor how many of its issues will be solved when the first patch eventually drops, but at least fans can know that work is being done to improve the game.
Despite the vague nature of Chrzanowski’s tweet, it does seem that fixes toSonic Originswill be on the way sooner rather than later. Besides Sega releasing a statement on the problems within the game,Sonic Origins’developershave also expressed their displeasure with the current state of the remake. Headcannon’s Simon Thomley recently stated that while he was proud of the team for their work onSonic Origins, many of them were unhappy with how it released and stated that the studio is prepared to come back for post-release updates.
With one 2022Sonictitle receiving a mixed response from fans, it has placed more of a burden on Sega’s upcoming open-world title featuring the famous blue hedgehog.Sonic Frontiersis under a lot of pressureright now, and the passionateSonicfan base is watching with keen eyes to ensure this ambitious project manages to meet expectations. Already, concerns are growing, but it is possibleSonic Frontierscould prove its doubters wrong later this year.
