The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimoriginally launched on November 11 in 2011, making this year the game’s 10th anniversary. Bethesda is celebrating by releasing aSkyrim Anniversary Editionbundle, packed with all of the officialSkyrimcontent released over the past 10 years. But that isn’t the only excitingSkyrim-related happening at the moment. On Wednesday, Modiphius launched a crowdfunding effort forThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - The Adventuregame, a board game that has already smashed its £100,000 goal.
Skyrim - The Adventure Gameis a fantasy action board game for between one and four players, involving many of the elements that players are familiar with from the video game. Players will be able to select and customize their own hero,adventure acrossSkyrimcompleting dungeons, defeating monstrous foes, and following an epic quest, all while leveling up and acquiring epic gear. With that said, Modiphius also says thatSkyrim - The Adventure Gameis endlessly replayable. It isn’t intended for just a single playthrough.

Modiphius set a modest goal of £100,000 for itscrowdfundingthrough GameFound. Unsurprisingly, it destroyed that goal in a short amount of time. A day after the campaign launched,Skyrim - The Adventure Gamehas climbed above £550,000 with nearly 3,400 backers in total. The campaign is planned to last another 31 days, so it wouldn’t be surprising to seeSkyrim - The Adventure Gameaccrue well over £1,000,000 by its end.
For those interested in picking upSkyrim - The Adventure Game, Modiphius is offering three different bundles. The 10th Anniversary Base Game Tier is £68.00 and includes just the base version ofSkyrim - The Adventure Game. The Gameplay Tier costs £140 and includes Skyrim’s two gameplay expansions,Dawnguardand From the Ashes. Lastly, there’s the Deluxe Tier, which costs £220 and includes the base game, its expansions, a Miniature Upgrade Set, a bag of gold Septim tokens, and aSkyrimmap game mat. Note that prices don’t include shipping which will add another £15-19 whenSkyrim - The Adventure Gameships.
Speaking of shipping, Modiphius plans to have the game finished and ready to start shipping by August 2022. That seems like an extremely optimistic schedule for aboard gamecrowdfund, so the game itself must be finished or near completion. That said, worldwide shipping issues are everpresent right now, so don’t be surprised if there’s a delay.
For those that prefer to play before they purchase, Modiphius has an option available now. A demo version ofSkyrim - The Adventure Gameis available on Steam for theTabletop Simulatorapp. It includes the first chapter ofSkyrim - The Adventure Gamewith a limited amount of content. Still, it’s a great way to see ifSkyrim - The Adventure Gameis the nextElder Scrollsexperience players want to dive into.
