After years of rumors and speculation, Konami has officially announced theSilent Hill 2remake, confirming the studio behind the project as well as the fact that the game will be a PlayStation 5 timed console exclusive. Konami kicked off itsSilent Hillevent with the blockbuster announcement, showcasing footage of theSilent Hill 2remake while also providing insight from the developers on what the project will entail.
TheSilent Hill 2remake is being developed by Bloober Team, the studio best known for games likeLayers of FearandThe Medium.The Mediumitself had a lot in common with classicSilent Hillgames, so it seems like theSilent Hill 2remake is likely in good hands. Original artist Masahiro Ito andoriginal composer Akira Yamaokaare also involved in the game’s development. For the most part, it looks like theSilent Hill 2remake will be faithful to the original game, but with updated graphics and important changes to help it meet modern standards, like switching to an over-the-shoulder camera and using motion capture for the animations.

It’s long been rumored that Akira Yamaoka was composing music for aSilent Hill 2remake, and that the game was in development by Bloober Team. It seems not all of the leaked info was correct, though. For example, it was leaked that theSilent Hill 2remake will be an episodic game, and while that certainly could still be the case, it wasn’t announced during the event.
It was also leaked a while ago that theSilent Hill 2remake would be a PS5 console exclusive, so there’s no surprise there, but some gamers on other platforms may still be disappointed regardless. In any case, there’s still a lot left to be revealed about theSilent Hill 2remake, like when fans will actually get to play the game for themselves, so hopefully they don’t have to wait too much longer for more info.
