The newSaints Rowgame has officially been announced and alongside it a wave of divided opinions regarding its dramatic new direction. Volition has openly stated that it plans on a new tone forSaints Row, leaving the wildly over-the-top action ofSaints Row 4in a different era. While exactly whatSaints Row’s new tone will be will take time to explore, one thing that’s very clear is Volition’s dedication to this new direction. That’s why not only hasSaints Rowbeen confirmed, but also a robust post-launch expansion pass.
Those interested in purchasing the newSaints Rowgame may have seen a chart making the rounds showing the open-world action title’s three different editions. There are Standard, Gold, and Platinum digital SKUs forSaints Row. The key difference between the Standard and the other two editions being the inclusion of an Expansion Pass with the Gold and Platinum versions of the game. The Platinum will also includeSaints Row: The Third Remastered. Further details about this Expansion Pass have now been shared.

Saints Row’s Expansion Pass will officially include three different expansions, arriving periodically following the game’slaunch on July 04, 2025. No details have been provided regarding these three expansions, unfortunately. Volition likely wants the game to let the newSaints Rowspeak for itself before introducing any post-launch content. Of course, if one of those expansions ends up being more tonally in line withSaints Row 4then it might be a good idea to tease the fanbase about it.
Speaking ofSaints Row 4, as well asSaints Row: The ThirdandSaints Row 2before it, they each had post-launch expansions for players to play through. The originalSaints Rowalso had DLC, but not full-fledged expansions.Saints Row 4’s two expansions, Enter the Dominatrix and Gat Out of Hell, were both very well received.Saints Row: The Thirdhad three expansions in Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space, and The Trouble With Clones. A planned fourth expansion, Enter the Dominatrix, grew intoSaints Row 4and its first post-launch DLC.
A common thread across many of theSaints Rowfranchise’s post-launch DLC is thereturn of cast members from previousSaints Rowstories. Given that the newSaints Rowlooks like a complete restart for the franchise, many fans will be hoping Volition will continue the trend and bring back some of their favorite pastSaints Rowheroes.
It bears repeating that the newSaints Rowhas only just been announced. While itstonal difference from pastSaints Rowprojectsis obvious, it also hasn’t really had the time to prove itself to fans. Hopefully, fans will give it the time that Volition has proven it has earned with over 15 years ofSaints Rowcontent.
Saints Rowreleases February 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
