Facepunch Studios has diligently been adding new ideas toRustsince the game fully released in 2018, and it looks as though the developer is considering a few more things like drones and some new types of CCTV. Along withThis War of Mine,7 Days to Die,andDon’t Starve,Rustis considered one of themost brutal survival gamesout there, and it’s not hard to see why. Many people have a hard time making it through those first few nights thanks to numerous factors.
However, the fact that Facepunch continues to send out frequent patches means the game has maintained its popularity among the community. With thenew industrial update forRustrolling out recently, the studio has shown that it’s not even close to being out of ideas. The game may be punishing in terms of gameplay, especially for newcomers, but its regular patches keep people coming back for more, and the team is always looking to improve on its difficult survival title.

With that in mind, it looks as thoughRustwill be getting even more features implemented at some point in the future. In a recent video from Shadowfrax, a YouTube channel dedicated to giving updates on the game and others like it, it has been noted that some new tech like remote drones, new CCTV cameras, and turrets are “closer to being available” for public use. In terms of the drones, they can be operated by the player, but they can’t fire at enemies in their current state. Essentially, it looks as thoughRustcould be getting new items specifically for security and defense. However, Shadowfrax says the ones shown in the video do not represent the final forms of these assets. As always, everything is “subject to change.”
Recently, the YouTuber also announced thatRustcould be getting ray tracing, as well as some other goodies. However, it looks as though this idea has been put on hold for now, as has the proposed slingshot. That’s not to say these won’t make it onto public servers at some point, but currently Shadowfrax says they are being “put in a box.”
Given how brutal the game is,Rustbeginners need all the help they can get. Whether it’s struggling to gather enough food and water, succumbing to the wildlife, or being shot by trigger-happy players, those first few nights present a major challenge for anyone just starting out. But for many fans, such a challenge is part of the fun.
