BlueTwelve Studio made waves for PlayStations fans when the developer revealedStrayin 2020 as an adventure game about controlling a cat in a sci-fi/cyberpunk world. While theStrayhas seen numerous delayssince its initial reveal two years ago, publisher Annapurna Interactive previously reassured fans that the game’s launch was still set for sometime this year with recent reports suggesting the game may release this summer. Now, a new update to PlayStation’s internal database may have just revealed the highly-anticipated game’s final release date.
Set to release as a PlayStation console-exclusive title,Straythrows players into a world of robots and advanced technology with players adventuring around the game’s stylized world as a furry feline. Partnered with a drone for accomplishing various tasks, players will roam around the city, solving puzzles and avoiding would-be predators with the game often taking advantage of the smaller size of its protagonist to create unique puzzles like crawling through air ducts and platforming across the city. Now, with rumors swirling about the game’s release window, the PlayStation database seems to suggest the game will be coming in just a couple of months.

A recent update to PlayStation’s database reported by popular PlayStation content aggregator PlayStation Game Size on Twitter showsStrayas having a release date finally set for July 19th of this year with an 8 AM PT launch time. While the account is quick to remind excited fans that the date could just be a placeholder within PlayStation’s database, the July date would line up with therumored Summer 2022 release windowfollowing a previous confirmation from Sony delaying the game from its “early 2022” launch window.
Stray’s release during the summer months would come at a time that sees Sony relatively quiet on the major release front with many of the platform’s biggest currently confirmed upcoming dates set for later in the year. While Fall is set to play host to several major titles likeSonic FrontiersandCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2,releasing during the summer months will give a spotlight toStray’s unique style of adventure gameplaywithout many major releases alongside it.
WhileStrayseems to be on track to finally reveal a long-awaited release date, the cat game has seen a bumpy road making it to the finish line. Following its initial reveal in Summer of 2020, the game was pushed backits initial October 2021 release windowinto 2022 and then saw further delays from its previously mentioned launch in early 2022.Strayhas experienced its fair share of setbacks during its nearly two-year-long development, but a confirmed release date likely means fans won’t have to wait much longer to dive into the cyberpunk world from its adorable feline perspective.
