On April 5, ROH Women’s World Champion Athena paid homage toBaldur’s Gate 3character Karlach at the Supercard of Honor PPV. During her entrance, she came out in a ring attire inspired by Karlach, complete with the character’s horns and her signature axe. The veteran wrestler, who is also known as Ember Moon from her time in WWE, successfully defended her title against Hikaru Shida in a grueling singles match.
Moreover, Athena later went on Twitter to thankBaldur’s Gate 3developer Larian Studios andDungeons and Dragonsfor letting her portray her favorite character. In the post, she also described herself as a “DNDnerd,” sparking excitement among her fans.
Wrestlers Portraying Game Characters is a Regular Occurrence
Athena’s take onBaldur’s Gate 3character Karlach isn’t the first time a wrestler has portrayed a popular game character during a match. In the past, many top names in wrestling, such as Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega, have worn ring attires that give a nod to a game franchise. Back in 2018’s Ring of Honor: Final Battle, Rhodes and his wife Brandi dressed as Venom Snake and The Boss, respectively, from theMetal Gearseries.
