Twitter user videotechuk_ compiled a list of changes that were recently made to Rockstar Games' website, in which many instances of “Social Club” were simply replaced with “Rockstar Games.” This seems to suggest that the Social Club will be renamed, or possibly completely rebuilt, under the new identity of a “Rockstar Games” social platform ahead ofGrand Theft Auto 6’srelease. However, “Rockstar Games” may just be a placeholder for a future title of the social platform.
The Social Club launched in 2008 and lasted all the way to 2023. It is an impressive lifespan, with now-ancient games likeRed Dead Redemptionsupporting the Social Club at launch, although the platform has gone through substantial changes since its introduction. The Social Club’s features are still live, so Rockstar Games seems to be holding on to most aspects of the social platform, but for unknown reasons decided to ditch its branding.
