A new piece of fan art imaginesResident Evilprotagonist Sherry Birkin inThe Walking Deadfranchise. The image itself comes from the first episode of AMC series which sees the character read the infamous “Don’t Open Dead Inside” writing on a door. TheResident Evilart is the latest in a series of memes and crossover images that have been associated withThe Walking Deadquote.

Way back in 2010, the first episode ofThe Walking Deaddebuted on AMC. The series quickly became one of the network’s biggest hits and went on for eleven seasons with a rotating cast of characters. The show has remained one of AMC’s biggest intellectual properties and currently has several spin-off series in development, including one show focused onfranchise favorite Daryl Dixon. Perhaps the most famous image associated with the series came from one of its earliest moments.

In the first episode ofThe Walking Dead, series protagonist Rick Grimes sees a door that says “Don’t Open Dead Inside” after waking up in a hospital. While some haveargued thatThe Walking Deadnever lived up to the series premiere, the words on the door took on a life of their own. In a recent post, Reddit user Rastifan imaginedResident Evilcharacter Sherry Birkin as the one who read the words, as she looks cautiously around the room. The version of the character appears to be modeled after her appearance inResident Evil 6.

Sherry Birkin was originally introduced inResident Evil 2. The daughter of antagonist William Birkin, Sherry was primarily featured in Claire Redfield’s story and was even a playable character in the game’s remake. Ultimately she was able to escape Raccoon City with Claire and Leon Kennedy. Small bits and pieces of information scattered throughout the franchise haverevealed what happened to Sherry Birkin afterResident Evil 2, but the character remained largely absent from the series after the second installment.

Sherry Birkin would eventually return to the franchise inResident Evil 6as one of the game’s various protagonists. In it, she teamed up with Albert Wesker’s son, Jake Muller, and spent a good chunk of the game’s time trying to make sure the character did not end up like his father. Unfortunately,Resident Evil 6is generally considered to be one of the worst entriesin the franchise and it’s not clear when or if Sherry will be seen in any future installments. For the time being, fans will have to stay content with seeing theResident Evilcharacter in fan art crossovers withThe Walking Dead.
