The launch of the PC version ofRed Dead Redemption 2has been a rocky one for fans of Rockstar Games' Wild West action game. The publisher hopes to make up for early performance issues with the game by offering fans a care package forRed Dead Onlinethrough the end of the holiday season.
Fan excitement for the higher graphical fidelity and performance ofRed Dead Redemption 2on PC hit a snag when the game’s launch on Rockstar’s own launcher and the Epic Games Store broughtstuttering and crashing problems.After several patches to the game to resolve compatibility issues with certain Nvidia graphics cards and drivers, the publisher says most of the game’s early troubles are behind it, and is now looking to regain the trust of players whose experiences were affected.

Rockstar detailed the rewards forRed Dead Redemption 2PC players in a blog post shared Wednesday. New and existing players ofRed Dead Onlinewill get the Prieto Poncho cosmetic item for their trouble, which can be claimed from theCamp Wardrobe or at any clothing store.Players will also get a care package containing regular and special weapon ammo and health restoration items for their characters and horses. The care package will be available at the in-game post office or at the Camp Lock Box. The publisher did not specify an expiration date to claim the free items, but fans can likely expect them to be available until the early days of 2020.
Players who ownRed Dead Redemption 2but haven’t booted upRed Dead Onlinewill receive their items within 24 hours of creating their character. Rockstar has also promised that more supplies, an Off-Hand Holster, and a special variant of the Marino Bandolier will be made available for PC players ofRed Dead Onlinewhen the next content update arrives forRed Dead Redemption 2in December.
The PC version ofRed Dead Redemption 2is already available on the Epic Games Store and on Rockstar’s own storefront, but is alsoset to release on Steam on December 5.Those anticipating the game’s arrival on Valve’s storefront will have to mark their calendars, because the publisher appears not to be opening the title up for pre-orders.
