Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madnessbrought characters from many different Marvel projects together through the magic of the multiverse. While a few characters are sure to return in future movies, the futures of others are less certain. Now, Rachel McAdam has spoken about her character’s future.
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madnesspitted Doctor Strange and America Chavez againstElizabeth Olsen’s grieving Scarlet Witch, who embraced the power of the Darkhold after the events ofWandaVision. As Strange and America hop through dimensions seeking help, they come across Earth-838’s Christine Palmer, Strange’s former fiancée. Christine ends up being instrumental in helping America and Strange escape Wanda’s clutches and goes on to help them find the Book of Vishanti, their only hope of defeating Wanda.

AlthoughDoctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madnessdidn’t set up a clear path for Christine’s future with the franchise, McAdams seems to think Christine’s time in the MCU isn’t finished yet. McAdams toldEmpire Magazinethat regarding Christine’s return, anything is possible. “You never know what’s going to happen with the MCU, right? It’s vast and endless, so - to be continued.” McAdams also discussed her experiences on set, saying, “What I took away from it is that green-screen acting is hard. And that you have to be really fit to make a Marvel movie. I had to really tap into my figure-skating, sporty side from another life."
While Earth-616’s Christine might not be keen onhelping her Doctor Strange, the events ofDoctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madnessbrought Earth-838’s Christine and Doctor Strange together in a way that suggests she wouldn’t be averse to helping him in the future. Earth-838’s Christine is just as opposed to a relationship with Strange as the one he knows and loves. However, her perspective ends up helping Strange come to some closure about his relationship with his universe’s Christine.
McAdams isn’t wrong to suggest Christine could come back in future MCU movies. Now that themultiverse has become a central aspectof the MCU, the return of any character is on the table. For example, fans saw Gamora die at the hands of Thanos inAvengers: Infinity War, only for a different universe’s version of her to join the Guardians forGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In a situation more similar to Christine’s,Spider-Man: No Way Homesaw two other versions of Spider-Man join Tom Holland’s to save the day.
With that in mind, there’s not only a chance that Earth-838’s Christine could return but that Christines from other universes could appear in future projects. Seeing as Marvel Studios is willing to go as far as to raise characters from the dead with the help of the multiverse, nothing is stopping them from keeping Christine involved in Doctor Strange’s adventures.
