Reportedly, it could allow hackers to gain access to private information, in addition to bricking computers and running programs in the background. Bandai Namco was made aware of this issue, and the development team has now taken further steps to ensure that this hack does not affect any more players.

The official Twitter account forDark Soulsconfirms that PvP servers forDark Souls: Remastered,Dark Souls 2, andDark Souls 3have been temporarily deactivated. The team is currently investigating the aforementioned issue, and it also states that servers forDark Souls: Prepare To Die Editionwill be going offline in a short while. However, PvP servers forDark Soulsgames on consoles remain unaffected, and the problem is limited to the online component of the PC version.

Most of the replies to the Tweet consist of fans thanking the developers and emphasizing the gravity of the situation. People are also hoping that thisDark Soulshack will not be present inElden Ring. It does seem like the hacking issue has been going on for some time now, and it is unfortunate that this problem had supposedly been left unresolved until it became a serious threat.
