As far as new video game releases for July 2023 go, it’s looking pretty dry.Pikmin 4is the biggest release out of a handful, meaning July might be a good time to get caught up on the backlog, finish up some games, or perhaps delve intoDiablo 4’s first season. Moreover, depending on what hitsPS Plus, it could be a good month for fans to play some of its offerings.

Of course, new games for PS Plus in July would be a great place to start. As it stands, fans will be able to claim thePS Plus free games for June 2023through July 5; this selection includesNBA 2K23, Jurassic World Evolution 2, andTrek to Yomi, all native to both PS4 and PS5 consoles. What will replace these and thePS Plus Extra and Premium gamesin July 2023 remains to be seen, but here are a few possibilities that would make great additions to the service.

PS Plus Free Game for July 2023: Marvel’s Midnight Suns

It’s honestly a bit early forMarvel’s Midnight Sunsto hit PS Plus, but stranger things have happened. There’s already a trial available on the subscription service, but expanding that into the full game next month has several benefits. First, Midnight Suns is a long game meaning fans will be able to get their fill of it in July since there are not many major releases. Secondly, while deemed a critical success, it has not been the best commercial-wise. Take-Two’s CEO has previously stated he believes thatMidnight Suns will have a long tail like other Firaxis games, which makes sense given its gameplay approach, and getting it onto PS Plus for a month could go a long way in expanding that tail via word of mouth. It’s probably not the likeliest addition, at least not for some time, but it’s definitely the kind of game to bring added value to PS Plus.

PS Plus Free Game for July 2023: Star Wars: Jedi Knight Collection

PS Plus Free Game for July 2023: Hades

Hadesis perhaps the most definitive roguelike experienceavailable today, with the indie game making AAA waves when it fully launched. In fact,Hades' developer doesn’t normally do sequels, but it is in a way withHades 2because of the sheer popularity of the game. What’s perhaps best about this title is that fans will constantly be attempting one more run before hopping off, until the wee hours of the morning. There’s not perhaps a better title to hit PS Plus in such a downtime July thanHades.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Wish List

It’s impossible to take a guess at the PS Plus Extra and Premium line-up, simply because of how much content it brings every month. Still, there are a couple of good options among the various oldies and goldies it can add (alongside newer additions). For example,Armored Core 5on PS3 would be great as it would let fans check out the last mainline title beforeArmored Core 6drops in August, whileDevil May Cry 5could let fans relish in somecombat akin toFinal Fantasy 16’s.

Overall, it all remains to be seen, but fingers crossed July is a big month for thePS Plusservice.
