A couple of months ago, Capcom announced thatResident Evil 8is in development, confirming the studio’s hiatus in developing newResident Evilgames in favor of theResident Evil 2and3remakes has come to an end. However, this is not to say that Capcom is done re-imagining its classic back catalog, and although no official announcement has been made on what thenextResident Evilremakewill be, it is all but confirmed to beResident Evil 4.
Chronologically speaking, the next remake should have beenResident Evil Code Veronicagiven that its events took place almost immediately after the destruction of Raccoon City, which was chronicled inResident Evil 3. Yet, given the popularity ofResident Evil 4, it is not surprising thatCapcom decided to skip overCode Veronicafor it, asResident Evil 4is almost guaranteed to attract a wider audience. Of course, it is important to rememberResident Evil 4remake remains officially unconfirmed, but assuming that it is going to happen, when should fans expect to see it?

Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Likeliest Release Date
As previously mentioned,Capcom is prioritizing the development ofResident Evil 8, but according to rumors,Resident Evil 4remake will follow shortly after. Now, withResident Evil 8confirmed to launch in 2021, it is safe to assume thatResident Evil 4remake could follow shortlyafter as rumors have suggested. Looking at Capcom’s pattern in releasing its games in previous years, it appears that the likeliest release date for Resident Evil 4 remake is sometime in 2022 at the earliest. Of course, this is not to say that Capcom will only devote one year to reimaginingResident Evil 4after the launch ofResident Evil 8,given that it is likely that the development of both games would overlap at some point, similar toResident Evil 2and3remakes. It is even possible thatResident Evil 4remake is already in its early stages of development and Capcom is just keeping this a secret to avoid pulling the attention of fans away fromResident Evil 8.
