Those who have continued to check out the games found new ways to enjoy their experience that go beyond the realms of filling up their Pokedex or collecting shiny badges. For some, the new camera mode ofPokemon Scarlet and Violethas brought forward some light-hearted — and sometimes downright cruel — moments to share.

Reddit user Nyathena shared their own experience in one of these games' sandy regions. After defeating a younger trainer, this Pokemon master decided to pull out their Rotom Phone and pose for a selfie, signaling a peace sign and sporting a smile on their face. The energy from the photo was anything but peaceful, however, as the young trainer in the background appears to be down in the dumps after losing a battle and handing over their allowance. What makes matters worse is that this could have all been avoided, asPokemon Scarlet and Violettrainer battles are completely optionalfor the first time in the franchise’s history.

While some Reddit users expressed sadness for the small child’s defeat, others were quick to point out that the Pokemon world is a dog-eat-dog one, and perhaps it’s time for them to sharpen their skills. WhilePokemon Scarlet and Violetmay suffer from a lack of regional variants, there is still a large world to explore and find new and exciting ways to build a team up and become competitive. Beyond the ability to snap a photo while taunting your defeated foe, many players have taken advantage of the game’s camera capabilities to snap wonderful moments with their Pokemon companions during picnics and after memorable battles.

Three days after its launch, players continue to find new and fun ways to both enjoyPokemon Scarlet and Violetwhile some get a kick out of breaking the game. Recently, popular streamerDisguised Toast calledPokemon Scarlet and Violetgraphics “zero effort”, stating the graphical limitations and frame rate issues were unacceptable while playing through the game live on stream. It’s hard to argue his critiques as a vast majority of the community has felt the same way, but it’s refreshing to see those who can still appreciate the parts of the game that are enjoyable and take advantage of tools that can provide hilarious moments.
