A talentedPokemonfan has created an original monster by fusing the Generation 4 pocket monsters Luxray and Gliscor together. Both characters made their debut in thePokemonfranchise’s highly ratedPokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinumgames for the Nintendo DS family of handhelds.
The fourth-generation entries in Game Freak’s long-running RPG series, often regarded as some of thebestPokemongames ever created, introduced 72 new monsters. Among these were Gliscor, the Ground/Flying-type evolved form of Gligar, as well as the Electric-type Luxray, which is the final evolution of fellow Generation 4 addition Shinx. One fan of the franchise has combined Luxray and Gliscor to create a hybrid that could easily pass as an official monster.
In a recent Reddit post, user Houndoom_Kaboom shared their original Pokemon that was inspired by Luxray and Gliscor. The unnamed hybrid combines the respective lion- and bat-like aspects of the two Pokemon it was based on, resulting in the custom character having a truly unique look. Houndoom_Kaboom has created other original designs in the past, including one that was based on the Ghost/Poison-type Haunter and Glalie, the latter of which is considered by some to be one of thebest Ice-type Pokemonin the entire series. They have also done fusions between Farfetch’d and Grumpig, Dusclops and Lucario, as well as Ninetales and Milotic, among many others.
Aside from Houndoom_Kaboom, other artists have come up with completely custom Pokemon combinations. Another Reddit user, Nainteins, created anoriginal Pokemon based on Togekiss and Chandelure. The former is the Fairy/Flying-type last evolution of Togepi that was introduced in Generation 4, while the Ghost/Fire-type Chandelure, the final form of Litwick, was part of the series' fifth generation.

In addition to fusing monsters together to form a hybrid,Pokemonfans have also made completely original designs. One artist, Just-Drawing-Mons, conceptualized aMega Evolution for Skarmory, a Steel/Flying-type Pokemon that was added in Generation 2. As of writing, there are 46 Pokemon species that are capable of Mega Evolution, with the popular Charizard and Mewtwo having two Mega forms.
The next mainline entry in Game Freak’s beloved RPGs,Pokemon Legends: Z-A, is expected to feature new monsters and forms while taking place in the sixth generation games' setting of Kalos. Specifically, the upcomingPokemontitle scheduled to launch in 2025 will be set in Lumiose City, which is an area that is based on the real-life French capital of Paris.
