Summary
APokemonfan and artist has recently devised new Water-type variants for Charmander and its evolutions, Charmeleon and Charizard. CreatingPokemonfan art with alternative types has long been popular with fans of the long-running franchise, and this artist has impressed the internet with their unique visuals.
Charmander is the Fire-type starter fromPokemon’s first generationand, together with Charizard, is known by many as one of the most popular creatures in the series. While Charmander and its evolutions are incredibly powerful inPokemon RedandBlue, their huge popularity is also closely linked to the anime series. In it, Ash Ketchum captures a Charmander early on in his journey, eventually evolving it into a moody Charizard that takes a very long time to form a bond with and obey the youngPokemontrainer.

APokemonfan named JolteonRPGplayer on Reddit redesigned Charmander and its evolutions, reimagining these Gen 1 beasts as Water-type monsters. The new forms of these Pokemon trade out their orange coloring for blue, and the artist chose to add fish scales to the creatures, making them resemble aquatic beasts. The user did not title these new designs, but some gamers in the comments suggested names such as Liquimander or Aquamander.
Artist Creates Fan Art Of Water-Type Charmander Evolutionary Line
This is not the first time that aPokemonfan decided to reimagine the Charmander evolutionary line with new types. A few months ago, an artist redesignedCharmander and its evolutions as Ghost-type creatures. In this work, Charmander and Charmeleon were drawn with hollow eyes and spooky lanterns instead of flames on their tails. Also, Charmeleon and Charizard had multiple heads were clearly zombie-inspired.
Last year, anotherPokemonfan redesigned Charmander as an Ice-type critter. This creature had white and blue skin, but largely retained the same form, having ice spikes in its tail instead of the iconic flames. The Ice-type variant also had a bow tie made entirely of ice.
Apart from Charmander, another popular Pokemon from the first generation to be often depicted in fan art with an alternative type is Eevee, due to its many Eeveelutions. Earlier this week, one fan designed aDual-type Electric and Dragon evolution for Eevee. This new form somewhat resembled a fox and had orange and cream colors reminiscent of the Gen 1 Dragon-type Dragonite. The creature also had a dragon tail with spikes and horns, which may make a unique form for Eevee in future generations.
