Released for the Game Boy Advance back in 2004,Pokemon Emeraldwas an upgraded version ofPokemon RubyandSapphirefrom Gen 3. Among the memorable parts of the game was a cable car that traveled over a forest. This gondola ride part of Route 112 would take Pokemon trainers to the top of Mt. Chimney. Recently, a nostalgic gamer decided to recreate this classicPokemonscene in an unusual, yet stunning, piece of art.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as LockedFrank shared a picture of a recent cross-stitch project they worked on. However, this was no ordinary design. Instead, this cross-stitch made apicture of a Pokemon trainertraveling in a gondola nearly identical to the one seen inPokemon Emerald. This design captured many elements from the scene found in the game, such as the trainer gazing out from the cable car at the distant horizon. In addition to the gondola ride, the background was stunning as it featured a lush forest of evergreens with a mountain range set in the far distance.

In addition to showcasing the impressive art in a picture, LockedFrank revealed the steps behind making thePokemoncross-stitch design. According to the creator, they used a screenshot from the game as a reference and went “pixel by pixel” while working on the project. In addition, they revealed that they used an 8” hoop along with 16 count fabric for the cross-stitch. It took roughly 30-40 hours to finish the design when all was said and done. However, they noted that several hours probably could have been shaved off if they had not looked at their phone as often while working on thePokemonproject.

Unsurprisingly, manymembers of thePokemoncommunityon Reddit took notice of this impressive cross-stitch design made by LockedFrank. With over 9,700 upvotes in only a day, many found the art very nostalgic. Many commented on the impressive level of detail in the cross-stitch, others wanted to commission the creator to make more nostalgic copies of the design. Unfortunately, LockedFrank revealed that they were not interested in making more cross-stitches of thePokemongondola, noting that it took a considerable amount of time and effort to complete only one.

This is just one of many fan creations based on thePokemonseries. Besides this stunning gondola cross-stitch, anotherfan recently madePokemonstatuesfrom everyday objects, such as beer bottles and candy. With the release ofPokemon Legends: Arceusjust over a week away, it will be interesting to see what other pieces of art fans design next.
