Sony has been hosting its State of Play presentations for a few years now, givingPlayStationfans fresh looks at upcoming games. APlayStationState of Play event is always cause for excitement in the PlayStation community, as they often include brand new game reveals, updates on upcoming titles, and sometimes even give fans a sneak peek at upcoming PlayStation Plus free games. PlayStation fans can now mark their calendars for the next State of Play, as Sony has confirmed that it’s taking place next week.
Sony has confirmed that the next PlayStation State of Play event is taking place on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:00pm PT. It will be broadcast on both YouTube and Twitch and will focus on third-party PS4 and PS5 game reveals. What this means is that fans shouldn’t expect to see games likeGod of War RagnarokorHorizon Forbidden Westat the show, but it should still have plenty of exciting announcements nevertheless.

Besides confirming that the next State of Play will focus on third-party games, Sony also revealed that the event will be about 20 minutes long. This should help put fan expectations in check so they don’t go into the State of Play expecting to see an especially lengthy event or one that’s focused onupcoming PlayStation Studios games.
What’s interesting about the State of Play date is that it takes place on the last Wednesday of the month. Sony typically announces next month’s free PS Plus games on the last Wednesday of every month, and so it stands to reason that the November 2021 free games announcement could happen on October 27. It’s possible Sony will announce the free PS Plus games for November 2021 earlier in the day, but it’s also possible that it will wait to make the reveal until theState of Play event.
If so, that could be a clue as to what fans can expect from thefree PS Plus games for November 2021. Since the State of Play event is focused on third-party games, if the free PS Plus games announcement comes during the event, then one would think that the free game would be a third-party title.
As it stands, there are no new PlayStation 5 games currently scheduled to release on Tuesday, November 2, which is the first Tuesday of November and when thePlayStation Storewill update to add the next batch of free PS Plus games. This makes it more difficult to guess what the next free PS Plus games will look like, but regardless, PlayStation fans should have a lot to look forward to on October 27.
