Fans ofPhasmophobiawill be pleased to know that the recently teased “Apocalypse” patch has now started rolling out. Since releasing back in 2020, Kinetic’s multiplayer ghost hunting title has been scaring the pants off many players, and thegame is even scarier in virtual reality. Despite it still being in the early stages of development, it quickly became something of a phenomenon in the indie horror scene, and the studio is only too keen to keep the updates coming out.

Kinetic Games recently unveiled the latestPhasmophobiapatchin a trailer, which promised to bring a lot of goodies to the spooky title. With such a committed fan community, as well as being a big hit on streaming platforms, players have been wanting more content and adjustments to the gameplay to make things more intense and immersive. Since the game came out, the developer has been steadily offering patches which have added new ghosts to its ever-increasing roster, made changes to equipment, and implemented bug fixes. Last Halloween, Kinetic introduced the first new map forPhasmophobia, Maple Lodge Campsite.

With this latestPhasmophobiaupdate now going live, fans have been diving back into the scary world of haunted houses to scope out the new additions. Among other things, this latest iteration brings small versions of both the Maple Lodge and Asylum maps, with the latter now being called Sunny Meadows. The patch also implements a new custom difficulty, allowing players to adjust a few options before play, such as sanity drain speed, number of pieces of evidence the ghost gives, setup time, and whether they want to disable hunts. Some of the specters themselves have also been given a few tweaks, and there’s now the ability to report players for a number of infractions like cheating or harassing others. As well as this, the developer is alsoplanning to makePhasmophobiascarierat some point. While there’s not a lot of information about when such an update will be coming out, changes to ghost models and adding new sounds and events are on Kinetic Games' roadmap, so hopefully some more details will be inbound about when players can expect that to drop.

Around a year after the title was released,Phasmophobiabecame one of Steam’s highest rated games, and it seems as if it’s not going to be slowing down any time soon. Its blend of cooperative horror and investigative mechanics has made it a winning formula for the studio, and there have been numerous other games that have come about which have clearly been influenced by Kinetic’s IP.
