There are a total of 23 Social Links inPersona 4 Goldenthat the protagonist will need to rank up during free time. Some Social Links such as Strength allow players to choose between two different people. The events of the Social Link will play out differently depending on whose selected.
Yumi Ozawa and Ayane Matsunaga serve as the Sun Social Link inPersona 4 Golden. If players choose one for their first playthrough, they can get the next on a NG+ if they want. The Sun Social Link is required for unlocking one of the many ultimate Personas inP4G. They’re also one of the first Social Links to unlock, leaving plenty of time for players to get them to Rank 10.

Where to Find Yumi/Ayane
OnApril 25th, players will have the opportunity to join the Drama Club or the School Band. Choosing which club to join comes down to preference, as the rewards for completing the Sun Social Link are the same across both characters.However, it should be noted that a handful of the best choices/responses inAyane’sSocial Link requireLevel 3-4 Social Stats. Having Level 3 Social Stats is, of course, notrequiredfor Ayane’s Social Link, but it will make Ranking Up much easier.
From then on, Yumi or Ayane can be found in thePractice Building (First Floor)onMonday, Tuesday,andThursday. They’re also the only Social Link (aside from the Fox/Hermit) that the protagonistcanspend time with onrainy days. They’renotavailable duringmidterms/finals week.
It’s highly recommended to have a Persona of the Sun Arcana when spending time with Yumi/Ayane. Having one will usually give an extra point when selecting the best answers during the Social Link.The following Personasare part of the Sun Arcana:

Like all Social Links, Rank 1 is automatic. The choices during Rank 1won’t give any Social Link points. Depending on whoP4Gplayers chose, they’ll get to know Yumi as she struggles to cope with her father’s declining health, or they’ll support Ayane with her solo in the school band. As stated, Ayane’s Social Link has more prompts that give points, but in later Ranks, the best answers are locked behind Social Stats. ShouldP4Gplayers find they need more points so they can unlock Rank 2, they can spend free time at the respective clubs (band or drama), or they can draw fortunes at the Tatsuhime Shrine once it becomes available.

For Ayane’s Social Link, choosing to “Reveal your feelings for her.” will, obviously, start a relationship with her.P4Gwill caution players when prompted. Choosing to date Ayane means the protagonist can spend Christmas and other holidays with her.

If players chose to “Change the subject” in Ayane’s Rank 8, then the Rank 9 will be automatic and have no dialogue options. These are the best answers for Yumi’s Rank 9:

This only appears if Ayane’s Romance Route has been taken.

In a peculiar twist, Rank 10 is where the protagonist has the option to date Yumi. Normally,the romance option shows up in Rank 8-9depending on the character. So, here are the possible answers for Yumi’s Rank 10:
“I’ll turn around, so if you’re going to reject me, just leave the room and I won’t have to see you go…”
“Picturing it… It’s kind of embarrassing, huh?”

Social Link Completion Reward
Those who took the time to max out the Sun Social Link will receive theAnnotated Script (Yumi)or theHandmade Ticket (Ayane). These are Key Items that will carry over into NG+ and allow the players to fuse the ultimate form of the Sun Arcana: Asura.
Asura doesn’t require special fusions (ie: Hexagon, Triangle, etc), but he’s a level86 Persona. This means if the protagonist isn’t at least level 86, they won’t be able to fuse Asura regardless if they have the Sun Key Item or not. Asura canNullFire and Light abilities and willResistIce.It’s weak to Wind, so keep it away from enemies that favor Garu-tier Abilities. Stat-wise, he’s very all-around with Luck being his lowest. The cost to fuse him will be a little over 72,000 yen.
