The Mandalorianis a unique show to film. Series star Pedro Pascal is often covered head-to-toe in his trademark Mandalorian armor, wh he’s admitted is challenging when trying to see what he’s doing.
The Mandalorianfollows Din Djarin (Pascal) andhis adopted son Grogu. Djarin follows an extremist sect of Mandalorians, with one of their primary commandments dictating that none of their warriors shall ever take off their helmets and reveal their faces to another person. Djarin defied this rule several times throughout the series, allowing viewers to glimpse Pascal’s face. As a result, Din is being punished by this sect with banishment.

In a new interview withEmpire, Pascal praised the costume for instantly putting him inside the character’s mind but admitted it’s not an easy outfit to walk around in. “It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it,” Pascal said. “It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real – but you can’t see s***!” While the costuming department has continued to “finesse” the costume and make it more comfortable, Pascal says he’s essentially walking around blind while in the suit.
The Mandalorianis gearing up for its third season. Season 3 will see the Mandalorian reunited with Grogu following the events ofThe Book of Boba Fett. The two were previously separated afterThe Mandalorian season 2 finale, with the Mandalorian choosing to hand Grogu over to Luke Skywalker. However, Grogu later chose to follow his adoptive father instead and returned to Din.
The armor and Djarin’s relationship with it may be aplot point inThe Mandalorianseason 3. InThe Book of Boba Fett,Djarin learned that the only way to regain his honor is to visit the now-ruined planet of Mandalore and bathe in sacred waters. Now that Grogu has rejoined his party, Din may be headed for the Mandalorian homeworld next.
After all, his quest to return Grogu to the Jedi was completed last season, meaning that Djarin will probably need a new mission as part of the show’s overarching plot. Giancarlo Esposito has already teased thatMoff Gideon will rise from the ashes, and rumors suggest that Gideon will find a set of Mandalorian-looking armor on his own. Djarin’s quest to regain his honor may be interrupted by the Moff, indicating hard times ahead for the character.
The Mandalorianseason 3 premieres on Disney Plus on June 28, 2025.
