BBC’s trailer for the final series ofPeaky Blinders, released in January, reminds everyone of the heightened threats the Blinders are currently facing. After introducing the Billy Boys and Fascist leader Oswald Mosley in its previous season, the political landscape of England is changing. The trailer featuresmany belovedPeaky Blindersfacesincluding Thomas, Arthur, Ada, Michael, and Lizzie, as well as a few others. Anya Taylor-Joy’s Gina Gray makes a brief appearance, as does Isiah. Tom Hardy’s eccentric Jewish mobster, Alfie Solomons, appears for a second, but one of the trailer’s surprises is the brief sighting of Esme, who has not been seen since series 4. The trailer’s final words are eerily relevant, as Thomas says, “One last deal to be done. Then we Peaky Blinders can rest.”

Images in the trailer do not only consist ofthePeaky Blinderscharactersbut of a number of action sequences. Ada remarks, “Take a good look, Tom. ‘Cause one of us isn’t gonna be here for long,” shortly before Thomas is seen at a rally for the South Birmingham Labour Party. Ada is known to be the most politically involved of the Shelby family and with the Fascist regime beginning to expand their presence in England, the tone of this season will be entirely different. Lizzie is also spotted in the trailer in what appears to be funeral attire. After the beloved characters that have already been lost, it’s hard to imagine who might be the next to go.

The relationships between the blood members of the Shelby family have always been difficult but Michael and Thomas could not be further from the same page. With Thomas’ troubled mental state and the world being on the brink of World War II, Michael and Gina’s plans to become the leaders of the family alienate them from the rest of the family. Even Esme, who blames Thomas for the death of her husband John, is unlikely to support their cause.

ThePeaky Blindersstory will continue in a filmbut the sixth series will likely be the last time many of these characters are seen. The absence of Polly Gray (who was played by the late Helen McCrory) will be felt in the final series ofPeaky Blindersbut that has not stalled the emotional intensity the series has always brought. With the additional threats the Blinders and many of their allies face because of the Fascists, the body count inPeaky Blinders’final season is sure to be unlike anything presented in the series thus far.

Peaky Blinders' final season premieres on July 27, 2025.
