Overwatch’sheroes are a diverse bunch with their own skills and personalities. The tanks in the game range from an overly-enthusiastic 61-year-old crusader to an oversized hamster. The same can be said aboutOverwatch’ssupportheroes. The support heroes in the game have a variety of different buffs that they could provide to the team, and it isn’t just healing.

In the same manner, they also have different approaches to the enemy team, and hence, turn the tides of battle in their own unique way. Though some support heroes areeasierto play than others, all of them are effective when mastered. It is worth putting the patience into them. Here are allOverwatchsupport heroes, ranked.
7Baptiste
Former Talon Officer Baptiste is a Combat Medic capable of healing his teammates, and hurting his enemies. His Biotic Launcher can launch area-of-effect projectiles that keeps his team healed. It doubles as a 3-burst shot Armalite Rifle that’s also capable of picking off enemies. Baptiste can quickly get to high ground with his exo boosts that launch him up far in the air. This allows him a vantage point overlooking both his teammates and the enemies where he can deliver maximum support.
Baptiste also has a discus-thrown immortality field ability that protects his team from huge damage, and prevents them from dying. His Regenerative Burst ability pumps up health to himself and nearby allies. For hisultimate ability, an amplification matrix that boosts healing and damage projectiles that pass through it. Baptiste isn’t the strongest, but he’s still a force to be reckoned with.
6Ana
Ana is one of the founding members ofOverwatch. At 60-years-old, she is as battle-hardened as ever. With her Biotic Rifle, Ana can provide both support and damage from a distance. Her shots heal teammates and damage enemies. She also has a Biotic Grenade which could heal and damage depending on who’s in its area of effect. Often, Ana uses this to heal herself to sustain her survival. Using precise aim, her Sleep Dart is a device that temporarily puts key targets to sleep.
Her team can capitalize on the momentary battle absence of an enemy Reinhardt to push the enemy team back further. Her ultimate ability, nano boost, shoots a dart that makes any one of her teammatesinvincible– doing more damage and taking less in return. When used on a tank, or in conjunction with another ultimate ability, Ana can give her team a big push.
5Mercy
Dr. Angela Ziegler, the team’s guardian angel, is a brilliant scientist and an advocate for peace. Which explains why she does so much less damage. Though her Caduceus Blaster can’t do much, her Caduceus Staff on the other hand heals her team on the battlefield and amplifies their damage when needed. Mercy’s mobility is unlike any other Support hero. She can instantly glide to a low HP teammate and descend on them with her angelic presence.

Anywhere on the map, she can fly to and deliver crucial support. She can also resurrect fallen teammates, bringing them back to full health and clear of debuffs. Her ultimate ability grants her the ability to fly, and to cluster heal/amplify her team. The cooldown on her resurrect ability is also reduced when in her ultimate form. Though Mercy isn’t adept in fending off enemies, her abilities ensure that her team is very much able to.
4Brigitte
Daughter of Torbjorn the mechanic and squire to The Great Reinhardt, Brigitte defends her team througharmorprovisions. With her Rocket Flail, she deals close quarters damage that returns health to both her and her team. Brigitte can also hurl her flail a great distance, and knockback anyone hit with it. Additionally, Brigitte has a shield that protects her, but it can also be used offensively. She stuns enemies with her shield bash, allowing her team to take the jump on him.
Brigitte provides armor packs to her team like her father used to be able to do. Brigitte’s ultimate ability gives all nearby teammates huge armor boosts that only wear off when damaged. Brigitte is an adept fighter on the battlefield that watches over her comrades. Because of her armor provisions, she is a solid choice forOverwatchGoatsComposition.
3Zenyatta
Genji’s master Zenyatta, the omnic monk, heals his teammates and haunts his enemies. The monk has orbs that he can launch at the enemies that deal respectable damage when aimed for the head. He can also focus his energy and unleash a flurry of orbs rushing towards the direction he’s focused on. With his orb of harmony, Zenyatta keeps an orb on a teammate that provides him with continuous health.
The orb of discord, on the other hand, is cast on to an enemy that amplifies the damage they are receiving. Though Zenyatta can use the discord orb for a key push, he can also use this against an enemy he’s facing, and give himself the upper hand. Though Zenyatta is a support, he doesn’t fall short of amazingplays. His ultimate ability, transcendence, makes him immune to damage whilst providing his team with fast rate healing. This virtually eliminates any damage thrown at them.
2Moira
Moira is a brilliant scientist whose genius was never in question, though the same can’t be said about her ethics. The prim and cold Moira can siphon health out of her enemies, and return it as health for her teammates. She also uses a biotic orb that can aid in the battlefield. Moira can choose to send a regenerative biotic orb that heals her teammates, or an orb that decays her enemies. The orbs bounce around walls resulting in sustained effects. Moira can also phase in and out of existence.

With her fade ability, she quickly teleports through the space around her, allowing her to get in and out of engagements instantly. Her ultimate ability, coalescence, blasts a focused beam that heals teammates and damages enemies simultaneously. This is very effectively used in pushes, especially with chokes. It is for this reason that Moira is also a solid choice forOverwatchGoats Composition.
1Lucio
The upbeat freedom fighter Lucio is a groovy soul. With his music, he gets his team quickly to the objective, and also heals them within an area. Lucio can crossfade from speed boost and healing like a light switch. This allows him to spontaneously switch buffs provided to his team. With this ability, Lucio can turn his whole team into a fast-moving wrecking ball. The freedom fighter can also amplify the effects of his current music allowing for increased healing, or increased speed buff. In the same manner, Lucio can use these effects for himself allowing him to deal more effectively against oppositions.
Additionally, he can quickly traverse terrain and scale buildings with his wall skate ability; allowing him for some surprise flanks and plays. These plays usually involve him pushing enemies into environmental hazards. Lastly, Lucio’s ultimate ability provides massive shields to his team for a brief moment, enough to withstandultimate stackingfrom the enemy. Because of Lucio’s ability to buff his team’s speed and health, he is a foundational element of Goats and Dive Composition inOverwatch.
