After the events ofOne PieceChapter 1069, there was a lot of expectation from the next chapter, and suffice it to say, Oda delivered once again. The latest chapter ofOne Piececovered the aftermath of Lucci’s attack on Sentomaru. It was revealed that Sentomaru somehow managed to block the attack, but the assassin wasn’t ready to give up his pursuit. Lucci tried attacking him again, but this time Luffy intervened.

It didn’t take long for the Yonko to assert his dominance, but he ran out of energy, so he had to leave the fight. Eventually, Luffy and co. reached Vegapunk’s location. Luffy’s withdrawal from battle meant that Sentomaru was at the mercy of CP0 and from the dialogue between the agents, it seems like he has passed on. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the chapter came toward the end, as Admiral Kizaru finally made his appearance. It was already confirmed by Akainu that Kizaru was on his way to Egghead Island, but fans weren’t expecting to see the Admiral so soon in the arc.

Why Sanji vs. Kizaru?

Kizaru’s appearance spells trouble for the Straw Hats and Dr. Vegapunk. In their previous encounter, Kizaru nearly annihilated the entire crew by himself. While things have certainly changed, the pirates find themselves at a severe numerical disadvantage. The Admiral is backed byseveral warships, CP0and the Seraphim. At this rate, a conflagration seems inevitable, unless Vegapunk knows of an easy way out of the island.

If things do escalate and it turns into a brawl, it will be interesting to see who fights whom. Luffy has already clashed with Lucci, and Zoro has a history with Kaku. This leaves Sanji as the only Monster Trio member without a proper matchup. There is a small possibility that Sanji will step up to fight Kizaru. A fight between the two individuals was teased in an opening quite some time ago. In addition to the opening, there are several other things on paper that make sense for this fight to happen.

Similarities Between The Two

There are two distinct reasons for this matchup. Firstly, Sanji and Kizaru are extremely quick. On several occasions, they have demonstrated their ridiculous speed. Kizaru’s speed stems from his Pika Pika no Mi, which allows him to travel at the speed of light. With its power, Kizaru was able to catch an escaping Apoo in little to no time. Sanji’s speed is due to his extensive training and Judge’s experiments.

Secondly, the fighting styles of the two characters are quite similar. Kizaru doesn’t solely rely on kicks, but his strongest attacks involve kicking the opponent. He has displayed his famous kicks against the likes of Apoo and Hawkins. Sanji is no stranger to kicking, either. He refrains from using his hands while fighting, instead relying completely on his legs. Now that their reasons for fighting have been established, it is time to delve into their powers.

Respective Powers

Kizaru possessesthe Pika Pika no Mi, a Logia typedevil fruit that allows him to create and manipulate light at will. He displayed his monstrous strength during the Sabaody Archipelago arc when he defeated multiple Worst Generation members with ease. On Marineford, the Admiral was able to damage Whitebeard with his lasers. Kizaru is also able to use Advanced Armament Haki, which gives him a significant advantage over his opponent.

Sanji does not have a devil fruit. So he relies mainly on his physical abilities and Haki to fight. Sanji has even developed Diable Jambe to bolster the power of his kicks. Recently, in the Wano Country arc, Sanji improved his Diable Jambe style even further, which resulted in the creation of Ifrit Jambe. Whileusing Ifrit Jambe, Sanji’slegs are covered by blue flames, which are considered to be hotter than any other kind of flame.

Can Sanji Beat Kizaru?

Sanji’s biggest test came inthe Wano Country arc, where he fought against Queen, an All-Star of the Beasts Pirates. During the fight, Sanji finally managed to awaken his latent powers, which helped him to beat Queen rather easily. Prior to this fight, Sanji was able to hold off two All-Stars at the same time, which is a massive feat. While there is no doubt that Kizaru is stronger than an All-Star, Sanji can give him a run for his money.

When Kizaru fought Rayleigh at Sabaody, the latter was able to keep Kizaru at bay without any problems. The reason behind his success was hishigh-level Observation Haki, which allowed him to predict Kizaru’s movements. Although Sanji does not have Future Sight yet, his Observation Haki is second only to Luffy’s. Sanji has displayed his mastery over Observation Haki multiple times, so he shouldn’t have too much trouble dodging the Admiral’s attacks. The main cause for concern is whether Sanji’s attacks will be able to hurt Kizaru. Judging by his feats, Sanji cannot defeat Kizaru unless the former has something else in his locker. For Sanji’s sake, it will be better if the fight doesn’t take place in the Egghead Island arc. This leaves the possibility of the characters fighting in the future because at some point the Straw Hats will have a major skirmish with the Marines.
