Farming bosses for the best weapons and cosmetics is one of theBorderlandsfranchise’s biggest appeals, as fighting a boss over and over for a chance to get a lucky drop piques a lot of gamers' interests in many games. But there’s a wayBorderlands 4could further improve this classic formula.
Despite the tedium that comes with resetting a boss so that a player can fight it again, many players happen to adore this process. With that said, the addition of something like a reset button would allow players to more easily handle that tedium. This kind of change toBorderlands 4’s boss system could ultimately make the game better.

How a Reset Button Would Change The Game
Since the time immemorial,Borderlandsplayers have taken to the title screen in order to reset bosses. Whether this was an intentional decision on Gearbox Software’s part in the earlier installments or an unintended exploit, it does not matter, as it certainly would soon become a staple of the franchise. Players' fights withBorderlands' strongest bossestypically ended with logging out into the main title screen, only for players to log back into the same character and do it all over again. This essentially became a long held to tradition of the franchise, as it also justified lower drop rates considering the speed at which players could tackle bosses. With that said, it does come with its downsides.
For example, players new to the franchise would likely not know about this kind of technique to resetting bosses. It may take a friend or YouTube video for them to be informed on it. But even then, a feature like this should be something that is made apparent to the player, especially when its one of a game’s most iconic aspects. The fact the player must literally exit the game world to reset the game is also a bit excessive and somewhat disorienting compared to the alternative.Borderlands' best farming locationswould benefit from a button to reset the boss, rather than having to disconnect the player from the game in order to further participate in the farming. Farming also becomes harder to do in co-op games because of this system, as grouping back up with people after every boss kill is tedious - something that a reset option would eliminate.
The term “button” is being used somewhat generously in this case. There doesn’t need to be a literal button that players press on in-game or in the pause screen to reset the boss (though there certainly could). It’s the feature itself that matters, and the idea that the player would not have to exit the game world to reset a boss. This kind of feature would also lessen the tedium of farming bosses, as players would no longer need to wade through a constant influx of loading screens to get another chance at a rare drop. The introduction of thisminor feature intoBorderlands 4would reduce the wait time and increase the amount of time players are actually playing the game.
Though it could be considereda move away from one ofBorderlands' defining features, it could be considered just the opposite. The introduction of a reset button would be functionally the same as exiting to the title screen only to load back in. A reset button would only need to reset the map the player is in, rather than having to unload then reload the entire game location. It is a change that in no way infringes on the player’s time and gameplay, unlike how exiting to the title screen does. It likely would provide nothing but benefits to both the player and the game.
How exactly Gearbox Software would make this kind of addition toBorderlands 4is up to the developer. However, it’s difficult to doubt the potential a reset button could have on the future of boss farming in futureBorderlandsgames.Borderlands 4should capitalize on this opportunityto make farming bosses much less time-consuming.
