Niantic, the company behind the mobile titlePokemon GO, has recently deleted a Twitter post that supposedly made fun of its player base and community. Following the public outrage ofPokemon GOfans regarding the changes the company has made to a specific feature of the title, players have gone online to show their receipts of the deleted tweet and further discuss their thoughts about the topic.ThoughPokemon GOcontinues to host regular eventsfor its community, the mobile title seems to have recently had a rough few months when it comes to its players' opinions. The changes in the game’s Remote Raid feature that were just implemented by Niantic on April 6 sparked a lot of negative feedback from the players. In the image, Niantic posted that reviews have come in for “going outside,” followed by tomato and popcorn emojis representing the 95% and 100% statistics. Although the tweet does not directly address thefrustrationPokemon GOfans have recently been feeling, using the terms “going outside” and the hashtag #getoutside seems to be pointing towards the Remote Raid feature.
On Reddit, the game’s players have also opened the discussion about the deleted tweet and the current changes inPokemon GO’s Remote Raid feature. Many called Niantic out for having biased reviewers who are all seemingly for going outside, as the tweet’s stats show. Others thought it was extremely unprofessional of the company to be making statements that seem to be targeting the community and then deleting them after negative feedback comes in. Despite all the backlash, Niantic does not seem fazed by the players' opinions and seems to want to continue along its current direction forPokemon GO.
With everything that is happening with Niantic, it will probably not be surprising for the company to see a continuous drop in thePokemon GOplayer base. What’s more, Niantic is also busy developing other titles such as theMonster Hunter Nowappso the company may be focusing on those more. Hopefully the company does something to appeasePokemon GOfans in the near future before it is too late.
