Bungie has released a new trailer for the upcomingDestiny 2expansionBeyond Light, and fans are already digging into the details and quick images of the video to get a glimpse into what could come next. One player believes the trailer reveals that a newExotic weapon is coming toDestiny 2, specifically a Hive sword.
The newestBeyond Lighttrailer reveals the return of VariksfromDestiny 1, and many fans are excited to see the return of this fan-favorite character toDestiny 2. However, some of what the trailer may have revealed isn’t immediately obvious, as Reddit user ThunderBeanage found when slowing down the video to a quarter speed to comb through each image and look for anything new, which in this case, is believed to be a new Hive Exotic sword.

The Redditor compares the image they captured from the trailer with a now-removed picture from Bungie’s website of new Exotics backwhenBeyond Lightwas revealed. The Bungie picture shows a serrated dark blue blade that isn’t immediately distinguishable as the blurry image in the trailer, but a lot of people commenting on the post seem to concur that these weapons could very well be one and the same. And given that Bungie removed the image they had previously posted, a new Exotic might be something they want to hide or keep hard to uncover for marketing purposes, distinguishable only in a clip from a trailer.
The original post claimed that thisDestiny 2sword is from the Hive, although another user saw the image of the sword from the trailer as looking more Golden Age-themed, which the OP agreed could very well be the case. The Hive remains a part of the game that players are still grappling with, as some members of the royal family are still undefeated by the playerbase. Both the Hive and the Golden Age could be interesting themes for a new Exotic to take, according to some players.
Another user on the thread commented that one of the Exotic weapons from the removed Bungie post is said to be the “Duality,” as predicted by the same leaker who claimed Variks would be coming to the game. Since that second claim was right, the first may very well be also true, especially since this leaker is reported to have also guessed correctly on the Adored sniper rifle.
Destiny 2leakersare a backbone of the fan community and provide plenty of fodder for fans to theorize about, and whether or not ThunderBeanage ends up being correct about this Exotic reportedly in the trailer, manyDestiny 2fans still have a lot of fun engaging in so-called wild mass guessing.
