R. Talsorian Games has announced a brand new way to play the company’s flagship series, specifically with the most recent version titledCyberpunk Redthat looks at the Dark Future in the years followingCyberpunk 2020. This newest game is coming as a collaboration with Monster Fight Club who will be creating a miniature game that increases the standard pace in thetabletop version ofCyberpunk.

The new game, titledCyberpunk Red: Combat Zone, is being developed by Monster Fight Club, a team of veteran model builders who make miniatures to enhance the tabletop setups forDungeons & Dragons,Cyberpunk Red, and other pen and paper RPGs. Although, while it will be taking the likeness of R. Talsorian Games' title, this new miniature game will have its own unique way of controlling the characters of the Dark Future.

According to R. Talsorian Games, the standardized timeline of the regular tabletop version ofCyberpunk Redis set slightly more ambiguously between the events ofCyberpunk 2020andCyberpunk 2077’s new stories. However,Combat Zonehas a timeline that’s much more set in stone, where it still takes place after the 4th Corporate Wars, but the exact date will be set in 2045. The finer details of the story are still being left up in the air, but it would seem that Monster Fight Club has prepared something to prime the quick skirmishes that will make up the majority of gameplay.

Of course, the actual gameplay that Monster Fight Club has prepared forCyberpunk Red: Combat Zoneis one of the more interesting aspects of the new game, especially as a miniature tabletop title. Seemingly taking a note fromCyberpunk 2077’s fast-paced gunplay,Combat Zonewill be one of the fastest-paced tabletop titles available, with no turns and no rounds. So far, working in a physical space seems like it might make real-time actions difficult, but the developers mention that a new “limiter” system is the key to keeping the game balanced as it moves so quickly.

Having the people behind both the most recent versions ofCyberpunkshould be good forCombat Zoneas well, since it is likely many of the same minds that put togetherCyberpunk Redin 2019. Considering that those original stories helped fuel therecent sales success ofCyberpunk 2077, seeing a new adaptation with R. Talsorian Games involved could be a great push for the series. Regardless,Cyberpunk Red: CombatZoneis definitely one for tabletop fans to keep an eye out for when it eventually launches on Monster Fight Club’s online store.
